Help fixing the hostile Lucky 38 bug [some spoilers]

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:19 am

Some people, me included, have stumbled into a sneaky, game-ruining bug. Basically, there are some turrets at the end of the Vault 11 that are, who knows why, a part of the Lucky 38 faction like all the robots in the Lucky 38 and when you kill those turrets, two things happen: everyone in the Lucky 38 becomes hostile and the computer Mr House (as opposed to the fleshy Mr House) becomes unresponsive. The worst part about this is that for most of us there were no notifications that anything is wrong, so most of us have spent quite a few hours playing the game before discovering that we've made the game unplayable.

As best as I can tell, this happens because the Lucky 38 faction tracks crime. I've tried out a basic plugin that unticks the Track Crime checkmark and tried killing those turrets and going to Lucky 38 immediately afterwards and no one in the casino is hostile and you can talk to House as normal. Sadly, this doesn't quite help those of us who are already hours past the point and don't want to replay all that content all over gain. We've looked for ways to fix the quest after its already been broken through console and, in the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1128258-random-failure-of-house-always-wins-pt-1-spoilers/page__p__16566623__hl__vault%2011__fromsearch__1&#entry16566623, have managed to figure out how to make the robots not hostile with console commands (setally factionid playerid 0 0, clearfactionplayerenemyflag factionid) but no matter what we try the computer Mr House remains unresponsive and can't be activated.

I am pretty sure the answer lies in the scripts of Mr House and Victor, but I really can't make head nor tail out of them. Could anyone with GECK expertise please give us a hand?

Oh wow - good catch. I may have hit this as I did Vault 11 but have not gone to the strip yet... :cryvaultboy:

I responded in that thread, its more appropriate there than it is here.
