Wow so I just realized that I cant finish the quest because I'm stuck in a room with big exclamation points instead of STAIRS! the only way out to continue... Just took the chick to the terminal and was heading out to try to get to the bell tower but cant get out of the main chamber. Any suggestions?

When i took the chick to the terminal in the ventilation room, I used the elevator located directly behind the auxiliary control panel to exit.
