Raindrops Glitches

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:56 am

Hi,I recently bought this game as a cover with my favourite magazine, and wanted to play it again on PC (I finished the game on xbox some time ago), everything looks to be fine, but when it comes to rain effects, i get only some low-poly models sliding down the screen. I've seen unfinished thread like this ( http://callofcthulhu.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4520&hl=rain ) but I did not want to ressuerect it so I am starting a new one.If anyone has some kind of advice, please, share it. Here are my system spec.:core2duo e8400, 3,0ghz2gb ddr2 800mhzati hd3870x2mb: msi based on P35

Not sure if you already know this, and not sure if this is the problem, but DcotE doesn't seem to like dual core machines. You can apparently disable your 2nd core and it'll run fine, but since I've never owned a dual core machine (grumble grumble) I've no idea how to do this.

I too have a rain problem with the polygon showing up on screen vs the raindrop itself. I think it may be the duo core thing but I also can't see the reef during the tidal waves, would that fix that problem too?

I got a new computer and now I'm having the same problem (http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b120/iamerik/CoCbug.jpg) too, so I'll try to update my CPU drivers too. I have an Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 but I think I found the right drivers. I'll let you guys know if it works. :)edit: Nope, didn't work. :(Changing it so that the game uses just 1 core didn't work either. I still get those strange raindrops, and when I walk it looks like the rain is going upwards rather than downwards, and it doesn't always show rain falling on every part of the screen even though it should.Does anyone have any other ideas that might work?I'm playing it under Windows XP 64 bit by the way and I have an ATI HD4850 512MB graphics card .

I don't know, the system specs are way newer than the ones they were programmed for, I would guess something to do with DirectX/Nvidia doing things differently in the GPU, possibly to do with 64 bit, since these were programmed for 32 bit machines? But I don't know how to solve the problem unfortunately.

I have an e8400 and Windows 7 beta 64-bit. I have 4GB RAM and an ATI 4850, and I also see the diamond/pyramid-shaped raindrops. I'm afraid from the sounds of it it's some unknown issue that will never work on ATI cards? ;'(

I wonder if this has been fixed for the Steam version?

I guess no one with a 4850 has had any luck. :/ Does anyone know if there's a good place to email ATI on the off chance that they might test it and fix (?) their driver? 9.6 doesn't make things any better.

Just checking back, still no (un)official fixes correct?I don't suppose some settings could be changed with svcklead's patch utility to disable the on screen raindrops? edit: Now I look back at my previous post with the rain going the wrong way I suppose I need a real fix unless I want to disable rain entirely... *sigh*I don't think there are any driver updates for the Intel Core2Duo E8500 either.

Ulitising the MLB map glitches/features is fine... if you dont like it you can call a "No Flying" vote.If the vote passes then the flying must stop
