ED-E, My Love

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 3:01 pm

I got ED-E to the junk yard but can't activate the quest. I talked to the old junk yard hag, went to different science compounds and still nothing.
I fixed the damn eye bot slightly later in the game because of my low repair / science skills so I had talked to a lot of people in the Novac area and HELIOS.
Is this a "Fallout Feature" (bug)?

So the question now is.. How do I shot web? What do I do to make it work, if anything. Or do I just wait for a patch?

I'm suffering through this ordeal on an X-Box.

Thanks for the help.

I encountered the same bug because I'd already run through the old lady's dialog options before bringing ED-E. However, inside the HELIOS factory (just north of junk yard), the dialog with one of the guys inside will trigger the next part of ED-E My Love provided that ED-E is with you.

I had similar issues, I repaired EDI and never talked to NASH, so it did not trigger the EDI my love quest. At some point, talking to Mr. House triggered it. I then went to the Old lady at Gibson and talked about Helios one, waited 9+ days and never got a recording. However at Helios one, and talking to Rivas triggered the first two messages back to back.

The wiki does have some info on the quest,

I had the same thing. I didn't rebuild Ed-E until later, mainly because I completely forgot about him

Went to junkyard, nothing happened. It wasn't until later when I was talking to someone in Camp Forlorn Hope that Ed-E kicked in with part one of a log thingie. (not sure if that's the next part of his quest though)

I'm having issues where when I bring him to the BOS, it freezes on me every time. I cleared my cache multiple times, but that didn't help.

So I see...

I shall treat this as a little feature until Bethesda (ever think it sounds like a Brahmin name btw?) pumps out a patch.

Thanks guys.

It seems that there are many ways to trigger the messages. For me, the head scientist (Hilbert?) at camp McCarran triggered the first one, then the doctor at jacobstown triggered the second.

From there you just have to wait it seems, and you will eventually receive a message. Just one word of warning however, if you let them take ED-E for upgrading they will steal all of your items. I lost a dozen unique weapons that way, so be careful.

I had a lot of trouble with the ED-E quest also. Talk to the scientists in the Helios ONE structure and dont rush through their dialogue. Let them speak it all normally.

Here's how it worked for me. First time i entered the Lady's Scrapyard garage ED-E's first audio log auto starts, then for my second it happened in the BoS Bunker in Hidden Valley , and soon after either wait or talk to ED-E you get the 2 options to either upgrade his armor or weapons. Wait a few days, and Quest complete!

Add me to the list of people with problems with this quest. I had already talked to the junkyard lady without Ed-E present, so I couldn't activate his log there even though I had the quest active. I have read in forums that one of the keywords is Helios One. I talked to the scientists there and they never used that phrase - nothing ever happened with Ed-E. Then I talked to the quartemaster at Forlorn Hope. He does say Helios One multiple times and I had Ed-E with me, but still didn't activate his logs. What gives?

Helios One (if that indeed is a trigger) is the second trigger. You need the first trigger before, Enclave.

I got mine by talking to the doctor at Jacobstown.

I got the first trigger by talking to Dr. Hilbert at Camp McCarran about V22. The Enclave never came up as such, but ED-E must have recognized something and the first log became available. I plan to head to the junkyard next as I did not talk to the old lady while rushing to Gunrunners/Silver Rush to gear up.
