Poll: Have you had any post-patch game-breaking bugs when st

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 12:18 pm

I'm interested in knowing if people have had any game-breaking bugs, having installed the new patch, and having started a new game (I don't think it's fair to judge the new patch based on existing games). When I say game-breaking, I mean bugs which stop you from completing the game, like the DLC bug, or a main story quest bug, etc. I don't mind minor bugs like slowdown etc. because I can put up with them.

From reading various forums so far I'm getting a fairly positive impression overall, from those who've started a new game that is. I haven't done anything more than installing the game since I bought it, so I'm desparately hoping the answer is "No" too!

I never downloaded the previous patch. I'm still playing fonv completely unpatched. I'm waiting to see if this second patch is more helpful before I download it. I put a lot of hours into this game and haven't ran into any gamebreaking bugs at all, only minor ones

after restarting i have incounteed far fewer bug's already but have incounted these new 1's

after restarting i found these bugs

1, sometimes when u go into the pip-by it's light is so bright u can't see anything and stay's like that for about 5min
2, there seem's to be a limit on how many games of caravan you can play only about 5 games that's the total win or lose ( as i play the mini-game it makes nosenses as we are in part of the wastland the pritty much run's on gambaling it makes nosesnes to limit how many times you can play any type of game)
3, problem's with LVL'ing up won't lvl up for 4-5 min after acheving the reqiard amount of xp

but so far so good no game breakers

I haven’t started a post patch character, but I just got it and am only a few hours into my hardcoe playthrough.

Only played for a few minutes after the patch and my game froze. Thats only happened once in the 90+ hours of my first character, but its happened about three times just a couple of hours into my hardcoe run. Is hardcoe known to be buggier?

I’ll update how I role…

#2 I think is a new feature and not a bug, they decided that it could potentially be used as an exploit to just be able to play Caravan all day with one character, so I think they've limited how many times you can do that.

#3, are you near enemies when this happens? You can't level up if an enemy is near/notices you.

10 hours in, so far so good, still have some clipping bugs pop up especially when killing the ants in the desert area's like by the racetrack and Boone still seems OP, but thats an easy fix, I just won't use him.

Take Boone's beret away from him or don't ever access his inventory...he's no more overpowered than anyone else. *mumbles about the companion-inventory + stacking +stat/skill items bug that most ppl don't seem to know about* :)

I haven't liked the patch much myself for silly specific reasons, but overall I'd say it's large improvement.

I never give boone or any companion a different gun other than what they start with just cause I don't wanna have to feed them ammo, I have a habit of forgetting to do that and then they run out at a crucial moment, but I find that with his standard hunting rifle he still kills everything without a problem before I even knew they were in the general vicinity (and I have an 8 perception so they should show on my compass), but he's not gamebreaking as I can just choose not to take him with me, or I can just send him to the lucky 38 and leave him there to enjoy the room service.

Is anyone else curious who voted yes to gamebreakers after starting a new character, I see they voted yes but what gamebreakers did they come across.

Oh, I agree companions are like that. But they all are.
If you could use console commands you'd discover that every time you access companion inventory, any stat items they're wearing become 'stacked'. That is, if their armor gives them +2 to guns, eventually their guns skill is in the stratosphere. So Boone ends up with 200+ critchance etc. So take off the hat/item, it resets. Don't give it back, he never has more than 10-12critchance. He's not any more special vs. the other companions, that's all.

Yes, I'd be curious to that as well. :)

He's special in that the hunting rifle kills most unarmored/lightarmored enemies in a single shot on normal difficulty and he shoots them before I even see them, not that its necessarily a crit its just he fires at things that I can barely even make out on my tv in the distance or things that I can't see at all. Cass, Raul don't do very well at long range targets and veronica and lily are really on good at melee, but boone can take out a pack of fiends without me firing a shot and without them even getting close enough to register on my compass with a perception of 8. But I digress your signature says you are a boone-a-holic so no matter what you are going to disagree with me.

I sincerely doubt that with a perception of 8, he's killing everyone before they become red blips on your compass. I have a perception of 6 and he's only firing once theyre in range of detecting me. If I zoom in with my scope and enemies are barely visible he never fires.

ya but the more u win the less caps u get in caravan so it doesn't make sense to also put a limit of so few i would not mind a limit of say 10 games but 5 that just makes the game less fun

and no i was not near any enermies i had just fixed 1 of my item's completeing a aeviment giving me xp and i was in side the shop in goodsprings

Sorry it was around 2-3 in the morning and I can get a little argumentative then. lol
I'm a Boone-fan but seriously, done a lot of testing and if you give Raul a Hunting Rifle he does just about as well as Boone w/his default rifle, when both are not being affected by the +stat item bug. However, it's very true that since you can't remove Boone's default sniper, you can't make him weaker if you wish. What they should have done is make his default rifle something in between the Varmint rifle and the hunting rifle. That would have made his default early dmg. lower.

I started the game out with the patch and I've gotten a few bugs. Some computer terminals (Helious 1) don't show up. I hear the usual sounds, but no screen. Also, I can no longer pick locks. Whenever I try to pick a lock, a 16-bit looking computer screen pops up on top of the lock. I can still see a bit of the screwdriver handle in the lower right hand corner.

Word.

My perception is (about) 8, and I usually pick off targets while Boone-tang just stands there giving me crap about shooting at nothing. He's a tool but he's a good fallower, Especially if someone wanted to rp a non-combat orientated character. It could happen!

For your number 1 the pip-boy thing that glitch happen before the new patch. Also happened in FO3. Only thing to remove the glitch is turning the light on the pip-boy and the light on the pip-boy will return to normal.

I haven't seen much of game breakers yet a couple freezes but nothing to stop me on going for a 3rd play through.

Pretty inconclusive poll so far! Oh well, I'm half-way through Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition at the moment, so I might as well finish that and then take the plunge with FNV. Who knows, maybe they will have released another patch by then! Keep the voting coming please

Found an interesting glitch... I had the Powder Gangers pissed off at me making it impossible to do the "I fought the Law" mission so i killed them all. didn't get the "mission failed" though any time i visited Primm or MoJave outpost of NCR soldiers. they become hostil even though i'm neutral to them. I was wearing leather armor not a powder ganger armor...

Same struck ground glitch for allies and enemies. and becareful with rock climbing as you can get stuck of floating there. Can't fast travel out or do a wait.

Save often...

Still no game breaking bugs.

Never had a single crash till patch installed. Then crashed repeatedly every two minutes till finally I Cleaned the cache on the 360 to remove patch - crashes stopped. The patch caused them. Without it the game runs like a dream - except the bodies won't show up in the Deathclaw Promentary.

I have played for probably about an hour and I went to the NCRCF after that I have been freezing when I go into a building, fast travel, save, or even sometimes bringing up my pip3000. I haven't been able to do anything since...I can't get 2 minutes into the game without crashing. I deleted my cache and redownloaded the patch but the same issues.
