I completed the "ED-E" my love quest with the brotherhood but two things happened and I thought I'd ask about it.

First off I expected Ed-E to be waiting at the brotherhood base but when the two day mark came and the quest finished, ED-E was in primm.

Secondly, everything I had in ED-E's inventory is gone.

I assume that these two things were supposed to happen upon quest

ED-E returns to Primm automatically even if you choose the followers line. The ED-E NPC is presumably replaced by a new ED-E NPC, so the inventory wouldn't carry over.
