Let's Play!

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 7:02 pm

As the description says, I finally got a capture card. I just finished doing a test recording (which may be found http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3n1S61CaZ4 ) and was thinking of making a let's play series. I can use games from my PS2, 360, or Gamecube, but sadly not my PC. And, for anyone who wishes to vote, I may just let the community decide what my first Let's play is.

Also, I will possibly do a co-op playthrough of BRINK with some of my friends, and those friends have also mentioned the making of a machinima series. So, Thoughts, anyone?

EDIT: first 3 parts of the Let's play up.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZBVLdyQ7uc

Well, do what you want, nobody will stop you (unless you use copyrighted music. YouTube frowns on that.). But as far as "will people watch it?" It's all about quality. I'm not going to tell you not to do a machinima, but I can't guarantee anybody will watch it. Hell, look at over half of my videos. Barely any views haha. But that doesn't stop me.

I can only capture from the three consoles I mentioned, and I don't have any pokemon games for them.

@Spanky: Oblivion will take too long, I'll save it for another time.

So, uhh, what is this whole "Let's Play" thing. I keep seeing it mentioned on here and over on Giant in the playground forums, but I've yet to see an explanation of what it actually is.

Conviction. Only if you play on the hardest difficulty first.

someone captures themselves playing an entire game and puts it on youtube or a video site, usually with funny commentary

Oh, cool. Sounds interesting. Wish this had been around when I was a teenager and me and my buddy used to play Secret of Mana. He always had great one-liners for Sprite and Girl.

Lol. I got tired of waiting and already started doing Harry potter, but this will probably be the next one I do

Definitely agreed on these. Also high on the list

Well I've already beaten it, but I'll keep it in mind

"someone captures themselves playing an entire game and puts it on youtube or a video site, usually with funny commentary" (SpEcTrE)

I'm working on the funny part. I'm still getting used to recording myself. It's a little nerve-wracking for some reason, and it makes it harder for me to think of funny things to say, but I'll get better.

That's a video Let's Play.

Prior to theses newfangled technologies, people made screenshot Let's Plays with screenshots and comedic or informative writing.

As for OP, none of those games interest me much, but if you do quality commentary, it shouldn't matter too much. It's probably best if it's a game you can mess around with while playing and that you're moderately good at.

The audio, at least in the first one, seems to be a bit ahead of the video, as you comment on things that haven't happened yet.

I noticed that, a bit too late. I have it fixed in the third video.
