In-game clan system?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:36 pm

Gamebattles.com does not have a ladder set up for brink.. So will we see an in-game clan system?

Also what is your take on it? Feel free to state reasons why you support it, dont support it or are in between...

Not that big of a deal to me as I don't play in clans nor competitions, don't like the feeling of being bound to a video game

But I wouldn't mind seeing it in, alot of people would probably like it :)

clans are very important to games especially like brink because some people are going to start gaming with brink, and clans are an excellent way to meet new players. i started a clan on halo three called the br brothers and renamed it the psycho snipes clan, and we have over 2,000,000 people in it. message me on xbl for details and info on how to join. my tag is ol usmarshal lo.

In-game clan system is not required (for example, competitive TF2 works great without it), but I can't see why it should not be included if they have time/resources for it. It should not be on top of priority list though.

I'm not sure about PC versions, but I know there isnt any games on the 360 that support Clan Matches.
Do what I did, get your friends together and sign up for a tournament ladder on a website liked http://www.fraggednation.com
Easy as that.

I dont see where Clan support is needed when there are websites that support clan matches

The in game system is purely for Console peeps. Fine, include it in those updates, certainly don't need it clogging up the PC version :D

yes it is mainly for the console peeps as many ppl dont use or dont want to use gamebattles
my experience over the years is that games that have a strong presence clan wise tends to last longer and for consoles its those games that are either heavily active on gamebattles or have an ingame clan system.

This game is perfect for clan play so cannot see why the devs didnt try to include something especially since they support clan play so much....or at least thats what they said

In the age of social media, not including social grouping tools(clans, guilds, whatever) is... re-stupid.

Of course when the big games also include things like online Split-screen(Halo, CoD) and then a game like this thats all about teams doesnt have those kinda basics... what do you expect? Games got a good concept building on TF2 but Ill be waiting for Brink 2.

I agree with this as well. Most games last longer if the have some type of clan system, it attracts the hardcoe gamers who will come back to play the game time and time again. The competitive gamers are the ones who keep games alive.

I too feel the same way which why i started this thread.. I truly believe that an in game clan system can be the difference in this game receiving an 8 or 9 overall. But its interesting to hear the reasons why people dont want it. For PC gamers i can completely understand though.

Truly I am indifferent. I will be playing this with or without clans, and honestly I am fine with just Clan Tags, if even that really .The Idea of a clan is enticing to me, but I have not found one that is right for who I am as a gamer, being that my schedule plays funny with hours, I probably wont like half the people in the clan, and while I am a hardcoe gamer, some people take it over the top and are ugly for it. That being said, I am all for it, but team gameplay should be fun.

FraggedNation have ladders set up for Brink already.

If there's no in-game clan support, there WILL be places to go anyway.

I voted yes, though, because I'd like it if they have something built-in (even if I'm not sure whether I'll use it or not, and even if it's just clan-tags so you don't need to create an alt account to use with your clan)

thing is MOST clans dont wanna waste time heading to a site and registering and gettin their whole clan to register and send out invites. ppl just wanna play. those "other" places are never active enough. ingame > random site signups. devs should make it as easy as possible if they truly support clan play

Like I said, I'd prefer it be in-game, but while I don't know either way, we at least know there's someone willing to run with it.

I don't think this game needs one. Would be nice. There are plenty of websites out there that provide competition and ladder boards. Some don't have them now to not close to release. Eventually, they will be posted.

im all for a clan system in game. i like having fellow buddies playing with me, though if they are not serious when playing its kind of pointless. orr joining a clan and the clan never doing anything.

Maybe not necessarily clans per say...but something more along the lines of faction specific guilds I guess you would call it? Keep clans out of the in-game system, as clans are often cross-game, cross-platform.

A in game clan system will make the game last longer. I played a game called Saints Row 1 from 06 to 09 because it had a in game clan matches ladder. Most of the MP gamers were mad it wasn't included in the 2nd. Im hoping for a clan match ladder because my clan will be playing it for a long time to try n be the best. As well as others. Even if you don't have a clan. Its a great way to meet new friends and create rivalries online between other clans. Brink will be my #1 game that i would record and put on my youtube. Clan matches with commentary. So i really want this bad PLz. Check out my youtube.com/LoSoFrOmDaBrEw

A built-in clan system is not needed for PC, but it is pretty much necessary for consoles. I like the KZ2 tournament system, where there is a list of tourneys that clans have started, and others can join in. Combine that with instant clan matchmaking, and the community will have a lot of longevity. Pubs just feel empty after doing the clan match thing in KZ2.
