What does she like?

If you don't know what she likes, then get her a gift card to a department store.

She likes mom stuff; ie. flowers, candles, chocolate.

But that's so boring, I want to be more original.

A bunch of flowers is always a good gift. You should tell us about your mom though, otherwise there's no telling what she could like.

My sister always makes a coupon book for chores around the house. Make sure to put an expiration date on them though ;)

Seriously, unless you know what she likes, your screwed. I got my mom an iPod touch, she's been bugging the hell out of me for one for a few months now, so I thought, "well, I forgot her birthday. I minus well try and make it up to her."

If you have no idea what to get her, get one of those pre-paid Visa/MasterCard things and some flowers or something, and she can buy whatever she'd like, even some online merchants will accept them. you just have to pay something like five dollars extra(if that) for the activation fee.

Some nice jewellery, that always works. Doesn't have to be too expensive, just as long as you put some thought into it. Even smellies are good (body wash, body butter, hand cream etc.). Try a place like http://www.thebodyshop-usa.com/ for that sorta thing if there's one around where you live.

Good luck :)

Well she does have a link to The Body Shop, so you're probably right.

dinner

that's what I'm getting my mom

It doesn't even have to be a fancy dinner or anything like that just so long as it's relaxing and she doesn't have to do anything (other than sip on wine and eat)

Scrub the bathroom, launder your clothes, do the dishes, and make her a pot of tea, with a note telling her you love her. Then leave the house and go hang out with your friends.

Cupcake basket (I may be biased being a cupcake baker ;)) or you get cookie bouquets that are very cute.

I agree with Ms Carrot about the Body Shop idea. http://www.philosophy.com/ stuff also goes down pretty well. If she's got a sense of humour you could get her some 'Hope in a Jar' face cream. ;)
