Recomended Mods?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:24 am

I'm going to be a pure evil char.
I played through vanilla and wanted to try some mods.

Currently I only use stutter remover and 4GB patch.
So what are some good mods?

Other than that, try to think what you'd like to improve or change about the game and then have a look at the categories at the Nexus.

I hate to toot my own horn but can never seem to resist. Check out my short quest mod http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=39807.

Also check out all of Puce Moose's quest mods, just search him on the nexus. The stuff of his that I have played is pretty zainy and awesome.

For environment, http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35998 + http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=39619 Red skies at night....

http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38623 if you find the game a bit empty (you can have it add only a little bit more, or go up to an immersion breaking amount of spawning).

Difficulty mods are very subjective, you just have to read the descriptions and decide if you like the sound of the changes they make. I tend to prefer mods that focus on one thing vs. mods that do tons of things, so I can separate effects more easily. But that's just me.

PS for many popular mods you'll also need http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1168320-beta-new-vegas-script-extender-nvse-v1/ for them to work properly.

i agree, nevada skies soon was my most important mod, awesome and much better atmosphere and it kills also this ugly strange red tint in the east, great!

another must have for me: Electro City
very nice all the new lights, especially with the darker nights from nevada skies.

but i have no idea if both are still fully compatible with the new 1.3 patch, can anyone confirm it?

Don't use Electro City but Nevada Skies works with the new patch. However, I'm not 100% sure if everything about NSkies works as it should be, yet. Weather seems to be. But it seemed like NSkies allowed me to zoom the 3rd person view out more, and I can't do that anymore. And I don't have any stand-alone 3rd person camera mod. Hm.

I'm getting ready for my second playthrough too, with mods. I've been searching through most of the mods at the Nexus. I think I almost have my game set up, but I'm not sure if I should get the update or not, in case it messes up some mods.

My mod list so far:
