Need feedback on a Quest line idea

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 7:20 pm

I’ve wanted to make quite a few mods/quests for fallout 3 and NV but haven’t got the ideas but this one:

story behind the mod -------> it’s about after the bombs fell that the fallout destroyed the hole planted but England for some reason the fallout stopped around England and didn’t cover it, so as the rest of the world died of fallout radiation England kept growing and after a few 100 years there wasn’t any more room left for houses and building so the government decided that they would try and build over in France. But found out that there were all sorts of nasty things over there so they sent the army and with their tanks and air power quickly overcome anything in their way and they were able to take France for their own.

So after while the government thought if France was like this why don’t we take over the rest of Europe? So they did destroying almost everything in their way and after that they were able to grow faster and faster so they took over Asia but didn’t even get close to china.

so years past and again the English government thought about setting foot near/in china but thought if would be to dangerous to attempt but still sent people there to find out and after awhile found out that it was safe in area to build and grow! so years and years past where the English grow and grow and try to make a hole world and make everyone peaceful so the same would not happen again or they just killed anyone who disagreed with them.

Mod idea starts there -----> so after making the world a hole they set eyes on America and this is where the story begins in-game where you are helping the NCR and who else dares to stand in the way of the British or you can get to a area where you can side with the British (well not side with them it will start you off as a new person, you still keep your perks and level and items are stored and your given new items and armour) and try to take over the Mojave and if i get round to it the capital wasteland!

i just wanted to see what people would think of this as it would take a long time to complete and make plus i still need to make a few bits of the story line and get people to voice act so i wanted to know if people liked the idea before i made it

Oh and here is a poll that i made to see what people thought of the idea

Poll 1 what do you think of the mod idea:

Also the polls would be a great way of giveing feedback if you do not wish to type or reply

I can believe that England might be overlooked.
And Australia.
Seriously, are they even still countries? :D

Edit:
Lol. I just read the rest of the post.
Are you @#$%ing serious?
You're not gonna make money on a mod.
For one, I doubt it has even half the quality of an official DLC (which still mostly kinda svck) -- and there are people who don't even pay for those.

Poll 2 would you pay for the full mod:

Yeah, let me stop you right there. Pretty sure that asking for money for any mod made using any content or creation tools released by Obsidian/Bethesda is illegal. If it isn't illegal, it most certainly goes against the spirit and sense of community that modding involves. I sure as hell wouldn't pay for any mod and I'm fairly sure the vast majority of players out there wouldn't either.

So... you want to mod only if people download it? Sounds to me like modding isnt for you. I am currently working on a NV mod, and its going to take me hundreds of hours to complete, but I am still doing it even though most people have stopped playing NV. I simply enjoy modding. If you dont simply enjoy doing it, and only want the fame that goes with making a mod, don't do it. You will never finish the project.

well i do injoy modding alot but in the past i've done projects but they have just been left by people and it felt horrible that i spent time on it and no one really looked at it or played it. i dont want fame or anything for this i want to add a new story to fallout for people to injoy and i wanted to know people thoughts so when im making it and have way though people dont like a idea and think i needs changing i could write it down and change in when making the finshed mod also im hopeing to come out with just the first part of the story for people to download and give feedback on voice acting and the story but im going though with the mod and making it at this time (well the first part i've got) and later once i get that out for people to give feedback on i'll be writing and planing the rest of the story. and my the sounds of it from the comments i've gotten it looks like im a jerk which i hate to think :/ i just want to make this mod for people to injoy and have fun plus make the game longer becuase i've done everything that this game has to offer and walking around is boreing.

Well in my experience, if you put alot of time into a mod and it's good, people will play it.

In reguards to the story, simply look at it, and imagine that your playing through it. When you finish, do you feel satisfied? Or do you just go, "Well, wtf was the point of that?" Generally any story is good so long as you build a connection between the player and characters. The player also needs motivation to do whatever the main plot is.

For example. Lets say you main plot, is an evil guy, Dr. Bad, is doing something bad. So Mr. Nice asks you to help him. (I know the names are stupid, but its for the sake of example. :P) You can build the players relationship with Mr. Nice, making them like him. Then, have Dr. Bad kill Mr. Nice. This builds the players hate for the evil character, making them feel more motivated to stop him. As well as more satisfied once they do.

This is one incredibly basic example, but putting this kind of thing in will spice up your story, make the player more involved, and make them enjoy it more throughout.
