Is there a known bug that prevents people from getting this weapon? I've scoured that building, used every terminal, emptied some briefcase next to a skeleton of all it's contents and still the field is up preventing me from grabbing this gun. What's the deal? Is there some trick to this or am I just boned?

I can't get to the weapon either but i figured it was just because i can't pick or hack most computers.

You can't get into the room, or you can't physically grab it? I did not have any issues with this (360), and this is my new favorite weapon!

If you are talking about the one inside the Repconn headquarters then I think you just have to pick a lock to get to it, if not then I have no idea what your talking about. If thats the case then sorry for wasting a post.

Same thing here went to get the gun, and its stuck in an orange-red cylinder/forcefield. Thought it had to do with one of the 100 science terminals in the top floor though so I left it be.

There is a terminal to hack to take the field down, I think it was in the bosses office?

I went the quick way in there (through a door with a very hard lock) and there wasn't anything stopping me from grabbing it, I didn't even realise it was unique until I looked at it in the pip-boy

Use explosives on the left side of the capsule to blow it to a point where you can get at a corner. Save first, and repeat until it works.

I physically can't grab it. I've hacked every computer in the place and no option to take down the field.

Have you tried walking up and taking it? I didn't have to hack anything. I just fell through the hole in the ceiling and saw it floating in the tube, walked up and grabbed it.

It finally worked.....took forever but I got it. Thanks for the suggestion.

It is located at Repconn HQ, first room on the right when you walk in the building. :intergalactic:

It appears to me there is a force field still in place despite having hacked all terminals, Will this trick work for that issue or did I miss something?

That's weird. I didn't even hack the very hard terminal on the 3rd floor, and the field was still up, but I just went over and grabbed it.
Edit: You may be able to use the camera angle trick to get it. That's the same one you could use in F3 to loot Col Autumn and your Dad inside project purity. You stand away from it and rotate your camera until the prompt appears.

It might be a platform-specific bug. I shoulda mentioned my problem is with the PS3 version.

I tried using dynamite to knock it out, but it just bumped around inside the 'force' field.

Mine is PS3 as well. I finally was able to gain access to it with controlled explosions. Grenades didn't work to well so I tried using my Gauss rifle to knock it around and finally it worked. Just barely got the butt end out at the base of the containment field. It took a long time but I now have the damn thing.
