Magic the Gathering cards sale question

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:39 pm

I am getting ready to sell about 450 cards from plenty of years ago, about 10 years old, and am wonderin should I sell them broken up or just as one lot. I am not sure what exactly I have or values but I am planning to stick them on Ebay to make some cash since they are just taking up space. Any recommendations for how to sell these?

Clumps of 100 or 200 are popular bunches I think on ebay. All at once would be less shipping and hassle for you though.

It would be more profitable to sell the cheap cards as a Lot and the expensive cards by themselves. http://www.mtgfanatic.com/store/viewproducts.aspx?CatID=3&gclid=CJ3Ah53C9KgCFYRa7AodFgkxVQ is a website that can help determine prices. You should also do more research on more pricing sites.

I am thinking due to the massive number of the cards I will put all the rarer cards in their own set and then just do the rest together. I think bundling uncommon cards with common will be fine and I have too many common and too many different sets to go through all of these cards. Do you guys think that will be a decent idea?

Edit: Turns out I only have 9 rare cards so that idea seems like it would be out.

Yeah, a while back I went through all of my magic cards to see if they were worth anything. They weren't. At least no more than what I paid for them. I did the math and the resale value of all cards in relation to their rarity pretty much balances out the initial investment. In other words you should theoretically make just as much selling them all in a lot as you would selling them separately. Slightly more since you don't have to pay so much for shipping. I would recommend selling them all in one big lot as an auction, but make sure you list what cards you have in the auction as well.

last year i sold all my magic cards to a co-worker for 100. I had at least 1000-1200 cards. If I had sold my rare cards for $1 each it would have been close to $400. If I went by value...... But I really needed the money right then. :(

I think I might just put them up as one big bundle and estimate a price because I know one card I have is $8 but that seems to be the most expensive one. What would you guys estimate to be a good place to start 400 cards at?
