Distinguishing fugures

I know that in game development, a lot of time is spent on finding a way to highlight characters from the background. With the broad level of customisation, it must be hard making each peice of clothing stand out from the environment. I'm interested in game design myself, and I was wondering what else the developers have done in this respect. Apart from the clothing, is there an easy way to distinguish between friend and foe, regardless of which side you're playing on?

friends are outlined in green, enemies in red. I don't know if it is all the time, or just when it may be hard to distinguish.

It's not all hard to tell apart. Security look nice, resistance ware garbage.

Not including the times when Security OP's have to look like homeless people when disguised and Resistance get to feel classier.

Apart from the obvious Red vs Blue color scheme they have going on (not literally, more like red-ish and blue-ish), the clothing is entirely different. If you mean "Will there be a way to tell what class someone is" instead, then I seem to recall something about the backpacks being different depending on class.

Finally an explanation to them pulling a gun out of nowhere :)

Dont forget the radar aswell, im sure the map will tell where allies are, and if there is an interrogation on then you will see bright orange dots or something for the enemy.

Sort of related, i hope enemy names dont show above their heads, that really aggravated me in COD when trying to be stealthy.
