A Couriers Life

Post » Mon Feb 07, 2011 8:06 am

Alright so as the game states, you are a courier. Why not add a job that you can do for bottle caps NCR dollars or CL Coins?

It would be like this.

You would apraoch a town and there would be a guy siting with a package or somthing. You aproach and he ask you if you could deliver a package for him. You can accept or decline. They ethier have you deliver or go get. If you work for a faction like the NCR your rep. with them goes up along with getting NCR dollars. Same with CL but you get Cl coins and Cl Rep increase.

The further you must take the package the more money you get. There could be two ways to go about this, you guys choose. Ethier carry the "package" in your inventory or carry it in your hand where you have to run with it and can set it down but must pick it up if you dont want to fail the assignment. Also along your journey enemys like the people who try to kill you in the begging of the game will try to take the package. The package could contain all sorts of things. But all that matters is delivering it safly.

What do you think, any suggestion?

I don't know about you, but if a guy in a used car salesman suit shot me in the head twice, I'd quit delivering packages. Unless it's to ladies, they can still have my package. :hubbahubba:

If I remember correctly, the Mojave Express (to whom you were already doing the job with the mysterious package - according to some early review) offers delivery jobs for money (and possibly even on neutral ground as far as factions go).

If my memory doesn't completely fail me, yes.

Here's some form of http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Mojave_Express

Sweet but wiki may not be right... any way if so AWSOME that would be fun from a change even tho ill probably be to busy surviving the wasteland in hardcoe mode. But this could add even more depth to life in the wasteland, while still making since with the character.

That would be sweet.

That was one thing FO3 was missing but Oblivion had - side jobs.

I don't think that is a great comparison. Being the President is a lot more prestigious, important, and pays a heck of a lot better than being a Courier. So, yeah, if I got shot in the head twice over what is the Fallout's world's social equivalent to flipping burgers, I'd get a new job. I really, really would.

The only thing that pays better in the president fact is that they somtimes raise taxes. And tho the comparison is off, you do what you have to. My dad is a truck driver, and tho he has gotten in a wreck that almost killed him he still has been driving big rigs for years after. Just cause somthing happened dont mean you will stop doing a job. And another example. A kid walks into school with a gun, you get shot in the shoulder then the kid gets arrested. After being hospitalized for a while you go back to school. Just cause somthing bad happened dont mean that life stops, Unless you died.

I think it is more likely your father did not have alternative career choices available to him. Since law requires that you go to school, yeah i think you're going to be returning, back when i was highschool a kid was caught on campus with a 1911 and several parents tried unsuccessfully to pull their children.
Just before you get shot in the head (twice) he says "you must think this is a 2 karat run of bad luck, but the game was rigged from the start," which implies that the guy that gave you the package set you up. Now knowing that the wasteland is a dangerous place in general and that you won't get workers comp for the two pieces of hot lead in your skull, i think you would try to avoid being found by any of the people who set you up, which probably means quiting your job.

You can't beat a bit of slaveing for making a few caps. In FO3 I did not even need the money in the end it was more of a hobby.

My dad had other choices. And think about the wasteland. You could be a courier, or a solider, or a caravan. All who would get shot at. No matter what you would get shot at in the wasteland. O or if you wana be safe you could be a stripper in Gamorrah, But guys dont fit so well.

Neither of those jobs entail pissed off hitmen who know where to find you. There are many other options than that, working in the bars or water purification systems, in a shop or a survivalist. Given that this is the Fallout universe it wouldn't surprise me if there were a gay club.

O God, no. Although i did hear there was a "Romance" system that worked both ways for guys and guys and girls and girls and (IMO) the right way Girl and Guy.

Hope i didnt affend anyone that is "Gay" on this forum. I just dont want a gay club (That would be scary).

Also i hunted a caravan once. So a caravaner could have "hitmen" a.k.a "Robbers".

I think it would be tongue in cheek like Fisto, but that is why this game is for advlts.
