Why am i struggling with dead money so much?

well basically when i first started the dlc and encountered my first ghost person. Me thinking it would be like the vanilla game i just started throwing spears at him, he jumps and attacks me taking most of my health away. I thought [censored]! and turned my difficulty right down.
anyway to the point, im on the quest where i start the gala event, i am maybe 200 meters away. I have done most of this quest on 1 single bar of health, now my problem is when i try and run past a group of 4 ghost people obviously i die ( there is no alternate way around), but this means the whole dlc is ruined plus i used my best character which means now he [censored] too. Why am i struggling with dead money so much? i wish i had never bought it.

Then eat food? Take a stimpack? Drink out of a toiler/facet?

You got the warning that it was recommended for 20+ players.
You got Elijah telling you about the death gas and the ghosts.
And you knew you had your stuff taken away.

It's pretty clear that you have to be careful in the DLC and try to save up on supplies.
If you messed up then you messed up, nothing to do about it but try to go for a perfect run or reload a save or start over completely.

But it isn't the DLC's fault that you didn't take great care of your supplies.

Spoiler
For your next playthrough or if you have time to make it back then go to the clinic, at the reception desk is the stimpack vending machine code.
Get that and loot every little chip you can see and you wont have to worry about health again.

This DLC isn't a cakewalk, everyone complained about the game being too easy.

Make sure you take stims.
Use your holorifle and use a beartrap.
Make sure you look for hidden items, they arn't far off from where you woul normally go.

Are you sprinting through the DLC? Just take a deep breath of toxic air step back a moment and look around you there should be a ton of chips scattered around all over the place go get them and buy some stims and ammo (SPOILER...the mute girl can make them if you spend some time talking to her and pull off a few checks...END SPOILER) Food can be found in most of the houses and Dean has put a ton of stuff in suitcases scattered all about and marked them with a glowing hand print. I'm not 100% sure of this but if you use VATS screw head or torso shots the arms and legs seem to be easier to blow off the ghost people. Putting them down with out you having to spend more bullets or running over to the corpse and poking it with a pointed stick. I'm not sure what you stealth skill is at but setting a few traps and luring one or two away from a pack has always worked quite well for me.
