Str Req.

Post » Thu Mar 10, 2011 2:18 pm

I love how they added the Str requirments again

I was playing FO2 the other day and when i started i thought 4 was an alright str but when i got the hunting rifle i wasnt as acurate as i coud have been

So i kinda wish we could get a chart to see what we need befor we start our new vegas game

But i thought id ask you what do think the str is going to be needed for rifles, shotguns, and heavier wepons like the mini gun or super slege

The big ones need at least 8 strength. Maybe 10 for the top tier ones.

They have confirmed that 8 is needed for some guns. But 10 is just so that you can be accurate as possible.

Luckily Str and End are able to raise in real life :disguise:

You can use any weapon regardless of Strength requirement but if your strength stat is less then the weapons requirement you won't use the weapon accurately

IIRC you can use any weapon, but if you are under the strength requirement then there is some sort of penalty...

Once you meet the requirements for a weapon, the only things that affect accuracy are player controlled (crouching, moving, iron sights). Adding strength beyond what is required for the weapon will not increase your accuracy.

Will having a higher strength then required make you even more accurate with a weapon? For example the AM rifle needs an 8 strength but will having a 9 or 10 in strength make you even more accurate/deadlier with it?

This makes sense, as being stronger with a gun doesn't necessarily have any bearing on accuracy, only on the longevity with which you can hold it up (which doesn't play into these games).

How big is the impact of the STR req. We've been told many times that with a str of 2 firing a weapon needing str of 10 looks like a firehose let loose, but how visible are the shorter term lackings (say 1-3 points below req)?

Someone is bound to make a chart for this, and probably fairly soon. Your best bet is probably to look on the wiki for one, after the game comes out.

Since the strength requirements are back I wouldn't be surprised if the "Weapons Handler" perk made a come back from fallout 2. Gave you +3 strength for the purposes of weapon strength requirements. I think it was a later lvl perk, like 12 or so.
