Last night ED-E was fine, this morning he won't follow through caves or vaults. Was anything downloaded through Steam last night? Anyone else having issues?

I think ED-E has scripting issues for some. I've seen him take it upon himself to just start wandering through the wastes. I've had to chase him down, tell him to wait then follow again. If I use the console to reset his scripts he works fine again.

Have you tried the wait then follow thing? I'd assume yes.

I can give you console commands to reset him but you have to remove all your things from his inventory or they will be gone!

Open the console (~)
Click on ED-E so you see his name at the top center of the screen. Do not click on anything after that with the mouse! (Then type the following hitting enter after each one:)
disable
enable

I did what you suggested and it doesn't seem to help. Even out in the open he won't even use his weapons! He's always worked fine for me up until now despite being a little quirky.

What did the console "say" when you typed the commands?

If nothing try these 4 in order.

kill
resurrect
disable
enable

yeah iv managed to break his script on the bos upgraded vershion of him once i went into the tops, told swang about benny got my weapons back for me and my companions thus breaking ED-E like you said. I just leave my companions outside now... for places like casios where i get disarmed.

I think the commands above may have worked. :celebration: I only had a minute to try it and ED-E appeared normal again. He gave his war cry, sailed over a hill and attacked a giant radscorpion in typical ED-E kamikaze fashion. Tomorrow I'll give him a good test.

Can't tell you and everyone else who visits the problem forums and tries to help people how much your help is appreciated. Sadly there are so many people who can't even play the game and when you think how many might be kids who are so disappointed right now it makes me very sad. I get so mad at companies like Bethesda that take a persons money for a broken engine and buggy game and then won't even give people help. Thank god this game has some great customers like yourself.
