Bug at Nellis Airbase - need help

Post » Wed Mar 23, 2011 8:52 am

I can't find any precedent posts here (mainly due to the lame 300 second reset-timer on the search function) so I'll create one.

My game is broken - I can't pursue the main quest, due to not being able to get into the Boomers base at Nellis Air Base. When I walk to the fence, where an automatic conversation SHOULD start, nothing happens, and I cant jump the fence or anything. Nothing works. Please don't tell me that I've lost 10 hours of playing here. That would really make me return the game.

Here is a youtube link from someone who experienced the same thing:

Wish I could help but (in 77 hours play) I haven't got to Nellis Air Base yet...

For me the guard thankfully didn't bug until after I had done most of the quests. Now when I try to re-enter the main gate, he duplicates and one clone stands still, the other walks around. If I even try to approach either of them the game crashes immediately. I have to avoid the gate entirely and just fast travel to the hangar or else I'd be done.

Come on, Beth please fix this.

Did you go to the gate or just near the fence? And try to move a bit in different directions, maybe you could trigger it. Or maybe you can talk to that map seller, then go. Or go thou tunnel. Or just teleport inside to start the conversation by yourself.

Thanks for the advice - I can't go through the tunnel, because it's a Very Hard Lock - can I retrieve a key in any way?

I have tried everything - running close to the fence from one end to the other, tried to jump the fence, teleported back and forth - all options are depleted, and I can't get any further in my game. :(

I went through the Tunnel, that is not an option really.

To the OP, do you get the indication that you have discovered Nellis when you get near the gate? It could be the cell did not render correctly and the game does not recognize you are in front of the gate. To clear this, Save and exit the game and restart your device (to clear any cell cache) and try it again. The cell may render correctly and let you continue.

If you do have the map marker for Nellis so you can Fast Travel, try traveling away, wait 73 game hours, then Fast Travel back.

Did you talk to the guy on the road near the Fields Shack about how to avoid the bombs?

You might need to do that and purchase his info about it.

Bump!

Look Frederik,
Are you on PC?
How about going down the tunnel?
When you get to the lock, just unlock with the console. (I hate to do that! But... it might save things for you.)
If you're on PC but not sure how, I could render further assistance.

Hi. Thanks for the advice. Yes, I am playing on the PC. Someone mentioned in a post that going through the tunnel doesnt work. Could I use the console to get through the fence?

The tunnel works but you get ambushed by a few Deathclaws upon exiting it. If you're tuff enough to handle that then the tunnel is an option.

I can handle them. How do I get inside the tunnel - I can't lockpick it and I don't have any key. How does console commands work?

"~" key stats the console. "tcl" starts no clipping mode. An example would be...
press the ~ key (to start the console)
type tcl (to start the no clipping mode)
hit the enter key (to start the command you just typed)
press the ~ key ( to close the console)

Now you can fly through all opjects.

To unlock objects start the console, left click the mouse on what you want to unlock (the i.d. of the object will be displayed on screen). Then type unlock , then close the console.

He forgot to say 'press enter'.
You start the console,
Click on the locked door (it will say "door - 000e173x" or whatever).
Type unlock; enter.
Close console.
The door is no longer locked.
It's actually too bad that they make it so easy to cheat like this...
Sorely tests my willpower.
I myself have used TCL coupla times, after getting stuck behind or inside a rock or something...
(But I guess if you unlock things the proper way, you get XP - so it's always preferred.)
