Problem at Loading Ready BSA Mod Files

Post » Sun Apr 24, 2011 10:58 am

Hi All

After long time, i decided to play Oblivion again but i can't remember everything about loading user mods. For example, some of the mods that i downloaded are in ready BSA files. In the read me documents of these BSA mods, some of them says "just copy the files to data folder of the game" and some says "load this mod with OBMM". I want to learn why same type of files advised to be loaded in different ways. Would it be better if i load all BSA mod files with OBMM.

Thanks

Never heard of / don't know what you mean by, "ready bsa files".

Check out the guides http://tesivpositive.animolious.com.

Frankly, it is always better to use a mod utility (OBMM or preferably Wrye Bash's BAIN) to install any mod (BSA or non-BSA). OBMM will require an extra step of creating an OMOD from the mod files you downloaded, and this can be bypassed if using BAIN.

You're mistaken, no mod comes in a BSA format. That's just an archive type that holds the various resources the mod uses, kind of like a Zip file. Are you sure you're not thinking of OMOD?

Some modders pack their resources into one BSA file or several BSA files. If a mod has plugin and BSA file with same name, simply put them under \(Your Oblivion Install Path)\data, then activate the plugin via launcher or OBMM or Wrye Bash.
