Two questions about fallout new vegas.

Post » Thu May 12, 2011 7:19 pm

Well I played Fallout 3 and there were two reasons I wasn't too keen.

*Gore
*Difficulty.

What will it be like in new vegas? Can I reduce gore?

1. No.
2. What do you mean by "difficulty?" Too hard or too easy?

New Vegas will be the bloodiest gorriest thing you've ever seen.
Be afraid, very afraid muhahaha.

Ok seriously, I don't think New Vegas will be any different compared to Fallout 3 in that way.

I don't believe so. However, if you're on the PC, there are several no gore mods for FO3, and I'm sure we'll see some for New Vegas in short order.

Well if you have it for the PC there are mods for Fallout 3 for Increased difficulty....and to take away all gore...im sure one will be on for FO NV, but this is ONLY if you play on the PC

I think there should be a way to limit gore. A lot of people just don't like it and that's perfectly valid. Unfortunately I think you just have to deal with it if you want to play.

I feel sorry for people like you and people who have a fear of insects. It can't be easy dealing with giant radscorpions or rooms full of radroaches or bloatflies injecting you with their lava if you have a serious dislike of bugs. But again, if you want to play the game it's just something you have to deal with.

I though Fallout 3 was actually quite easy.

And the gore? Yes it was unrealistic. Yes it was over the top. But it was AWESOME!

I just hope peoples' necks aren't toothpicks when I aim for their head.
I get it, a .5 pound bullet and a ten pound head, times the force of the bullets' velocity, is going to be very powerful.
It will probably break their necks, but still, their heads shouldn't be bouncing around more than basketballs.

I actually wasn't a huge fan of the gore either, not because I'm squeamish, but rather it just felt like too much, it broke immersion and reminded me i wasn't really in the wasteland.

If you're using a 9mm gun, you should never see more then a little hole. They need to save the big gore animations for the high powered weapons that actually cause that kind of thing. I was watching some videos of Canadian counter-snipers in Afghanistan using the Barrett M82s on other snipers. The snipers were literally blown to pieces, severed arms and legs flying away and what-not.

I noticed there was a Barrett M82 looking gun in this game, and there's that over the top pistol that fires rifle rounds. If they saved the extreme gore for the extreme weapons, I think I would appreciate them a lot more.

1. The gore is something I put up with; it's not my favorite part and I could do without graphic gruesome death animations. You can reduce it somewhat by not using VATS. Otherwise, I just turn my head or something until the VATS animation is over.

2. You can adjust the difficulty setting.

The exploring is my favorite part. In FO3 I also had a great time with my companion, Fawkes. He was a riot.

Good luck.

Theres also a pistol that fires 12.7mm(.50) rounds, and a 12.7mm submachine gun :) try that on for size.

It will be about the same as far as gore.

Folks, I'm about to delete some flamebait from this thread. Don't be judging other members for what they prefer in their games.
