So I remember Major Knight saying that he would hook me up w/ free repairs, as long as caps change hands.

So I go last night to repair a few things, and I get charged for the repairs. Im kinda confused by this. Am I doing something wrong? Did they change it with a patch?

Yea, I know. I said that in the first sentence. I have 10,000 caps. I still get charged for trying to repair something that costs 1000 caps to fix.

Have you received the patch? This feature is apparently removed if you patch the game. As in he will NOT fix your stuff for free

'I'll do this for free if caps change hands' basically means 'I'll do this if you pay me', not 'I'll do this for free'. At least, that's how I read it - I haven't seen that bit in the game, so I'm not sure if that's actually how it's intended or anything.

I have the confirmed bachelor perk and I have not downloaded the patch. He repairs my stuff for free, but for some reason I have to have the right amount of caps to fix whatever weapon, even though he doesn't take any money

It only works once, and you have to select the option "I could use some help with my gear." immediately after you've talked through the [Confirmed Bachelor] option.

If you exit conversation, and talk to him later, you won't be able to.

The "I need to repair." option will charge you caps as normal.

Thanks a62172. I did get a few repairs the first time. I wish I would have waited until later. I could save tons of caps.

I love that perk! I have gotten nearly 20,000 caps worth of stuff fixed for free. It sure is making it possible for me to get implants. :mohawk:
