OK gang i going for hardcoe melee/HTH build

yes the game isn't out but i would like some constructive criticism or praise regarding my Player Character idea

spoilers from the wiki included

s 9
p 1
e 10
c 1
i 4
a 9
l 1

total = 35

i really want action points at the cost of skill point from int but since there is some way of raising each stat by at least one i want 9 as max except for Endurance.
Doing 10 in END for max HP per level unless it is retroactive when reaching 10 for every level its that's the case int would be 5 and end 9.

traits i like

heavy handed
wild wasteland

perks I'm liking so far

perks lvl

Confirmed Bachelor 2
Rad Child 4 Survival 70 1 sounds interesting
Cowboy 8 Guns 45, Melee 45 1 great for my melee guy except i need to pump guns up to 45 :(
Jury Rigging 14 Repair 90
Solar Powered might be useful this time

skills tagged

Melee Weapons
Repair
Survival

if we get 4

Unarmed

that's it so far an serious comments would be appreciated.

For straight out melee (based on fallout 3) high strength is a no brainer, if you pre-ordered the tribal pack you get a bunch of good melee weapons right off the bat (get it "bat" like a melee weapon?), endurance may help and so would agility. Honestly you may want to slightly change your idea to a CQC sort of thing so small guns would help along with melee.

Thanks for the response PyroPapaya, i did indeed pre order the tribal pack. Just one question what does CQC mean? N/M just found out it means Close Quarters Combat. So i see you small guns idea might have merit.

My advice:

I played through FO3 with Unarmed only character on VH. On the few occasions when I couldn't physically get to someone who was attacking me, I'd lob a grenade at them. Other than that, everyone got punched to death.
1.) I wouldn't do this on your first play through. After going through the game normally you'll have a sense of where to go and what to do, which makes this type of gimmick build easier.
2.) That said, it's the gimmick that makes it fun. A new (and significant) limitation makes the game challenging and interesting. So pick one (either Unarmed or Melee) and stick to it religiously. I think Melee will be slightly easier, and that way you'll get to see all the cool new moves they put into FO:NV.
3.) My tags would be: Melee, Survival and Medicine. I'd skip Repair, remember everyone can repair items to 100% now, it just takes more items. Melee weapons are cheap and plentiful, and you'll have cash from selling off all the guns you pick up. You need Medicine because you're going to get hurt, a lot. You basically have to soak damage until you can get up close to an enemy, and to offset that, you're going to want your stimpaks to be doing as much healing over time as possible. And when you finally get close to that enemy...
4.) Abuse VATS. If you find VATS annoying, that's your loss, but it was the backbone of my HTH build. I never got tired of it, and the DR and the increased crits made me OWN up close.
5.) Since your going to be VATS-ing a lot, I'd ungimp Luck. I think you have 40 points to distribute at the start, so I'd but five more into Luck, and draw one or two more from Agility. Criticals are fuun.

Good advice Cthon . I like your idea of tagging medicine instead of repair. Yeah i did an all HTH build recently by far my favorite. However i am doing melee first to see all the new vats moves and try all the poisons we can use. I will be using VATS a bunch.

I hope Endurance will be retroactive like it was in Fallout 3 for determining Hit Points.

If we get 40 points , yeah i agree I'm going to pump up luck.

Thanks for the pointers.
