Some more information would be helpful. With startup do you mean during the launcher or when it is loading the game for real after you select play from the launcher?

After I click Play... Get up to the Betheda Splash screen

Does it crash when you click your mouse/press a button to interrupt the slideshow or does it also crash when you just let it be?

I just click PLAY from the steam game menu. The FAllout 3 new vegas startup screen appears. I click PLAY... see 2 splash screens, and then the game crashes to to the desktop.

Sorry if it sounds tedious, it's just that where it crashes can be quite an indicator.

If you see the splash screen and would be hitting your keyboard or mouse to get to the menu to continue/load/start new, it would indicate something would screw up trying to load that. But if it is just showing the slideshow, well, that's more random.

i appreciate all the help. O want to play sp bad, I'm even considering changing my video card from 9500Gt to a 9800... but I'll wait.

I'm sure someone can figure this out. I should of waited til Christmas, by then hopefully all the patches would of been out

Try this and type in the line exactly as shown

1)Go to START-Run-cmd (open cmd as AMIN)
2) Type in bcdedit.exe/set nx AlwaysOff
3)Enter
4)Reboot
5) PLAY!!!!!!

re-installed / downloaded from Stream..... tried to run.. CDT

BSA's are always loaded, even if not in the archive list. But your sarchivelist should look closer to this:
Fallout - Voices1.bsa, Fallout - Sound.bsa, Fallout - Misc.bsa, ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated!.bsa, Fallout - Textures.bsa, Fallout - Textures2.bsa, Fallout - Meshes.bsa

voices, sounds/misc then AI! then textures and meshes.

This is how my sarchivelist looks:

Did you remember to rename your archiveinvalidatedinvalidated!.bsa to AI!.bsa?

I've been trying so many patches etc... this is driving me nuts...

As far as the ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated!.bsa, fix.. I don't even have that .bsa on my machine, let alone changing the name to AI!.bsa

I re-tried the .ini fix and removed the reference to that .bsa... still no joy


maybe after christmas this game will be patched and working
