If anyone is having an incredibly hard time with the quest T : Fallout: New Vegas

Alright, to start off I had an incredibly hard time with this quest. I decided to help the scientist Keely, and she locks the door outside when you help her, so you have to finish her part of the quest. I could not figure out how to not die in the fiery blast until I searched around and on the fourth level of the vault there is a computer which unlocks that door you need to get inside for the main part of the quest. Get inside that room and set off the blast, and you're fine. Also, if you want to get outside before then, I figured out you can just go on her computer on the second level and get the password for the door. I then killed Keely when she tried to take my data from my Pip-Boy.

i helped her,
first downloaded the data,
then spoke to her and got quest to destroy the spores and get data,
threw a grenade over the barracade around the corner from the vents and then ducked into the closest room ,the fireball only goes down the corridors,
i then used (forgot which) iether speech or science i think science to convince her that the data i had already downloaded should be given to the doctor because we learn from our mistakes and others would not do it again.
then went back to vegas told the woman i help her friend and gave the data to the doctor,
so i got tons of xp and didnt need to kill anyone

I did the quest fine and she did not die.... I did not even know she could die?!

Alright sorry that last reply was by accident. Thank you. I didn't have high enough Science, so she tried to kill me because I didn't want to give away the data. I'm new at this forum stuff, so forgive me if I messed up in any way.

This quest is pretty easy if you have a detonator and some C4. If you don't have that, the easiest way to help Keely is to do the following:

From the elevator, go forward and take the first right.
Follow this path until you come to a barricaded section.
Chuck a grenade over the barricade and run like hell to the elevator.

Assuming you're fast enough (might want to holster your weapon or use a 1-handed one, and equip anything that gives you the most AGI you can get) you will survive the blast, even if you're caught in it chances are you will take only minimal damage.
