Massive Control Issues after patching

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 9:33 pm

Hi,

after patching, I started encountering very strange (and annoying) control issues, making the game almost unplayable for me.

It starts with the already described "pouncing forward". When walking/sneaking around, the game suddenly makes you "jump" (not a real jump, just a sudden movement) forward. Probably connected to this problem is, that the game now often fires two bullets when I only want to fire once.

But even worse, the game ssuddenly starts to not reacting to "R", "E" (for looting corpses), "V" or right mouse click anymore. Saving/Loading fixes it, but it happens again soon (meaning "a minute later" at max), making the game really almost unplayable (and not only almost unenjoyable). Could be the cowboy repeater, as I used that weapon then.

A quick fix would be really nice, thank you.

I had the same problem.. it was the cowboy repeater. it seems to be a problem with all weapons that reload one bullet at a time. you can try uncrouching and moving.. i'd usually hit tab, then uncrouch and move a bit and the pipboy would then come right up and everything would be fine till i reloaded my repeater again.

Reloading (single bullet type guns, not clip type) when crouched is the problem. Hit your fire button once after reloading (only when crouched) and it will clear the problem.

I get the little hops too. I hope they track that down by the time the full patch comes out.

I found the problem with the Magnum .357 and bringing up the pipboy. It's annoying, but not enough to stop playing the game.

They patched the game twice so far, both times it made my game worse. At first I was getting the pause for 2 seconds while running and reloading glitch and now I get the not gonna do anything while reloading and crouching glitch. I never had this problem until they patched it and it makes the game almost unplayable. I added a Brush gun for testing and went to wipe out the Mojave Outpost and it's kind of dangerous when I have to stand up to reload/fix the glitch with 5 people shooting at me.

The only time I noticed the skip thing was on a NPC he kind of teleported about a foot to the left.

My game also crashes on exit every single time now.

You don't need to stand up to fix the control issue. After the reload sequence just click the fire button once. You won't fire, but it will restore your controls.

Im seeing all these problems - the hopping or sliding effect - the lack of response when trying to reload or loot and the more frequent crashing.

The game launcher crashes repeatedly every time I try to start a game. It'll do it several times before eventually the game loads.
I've tried the so called fix of deleting INI files and verifying the game files *twice* and it doesnt cure it.

Im running the game *vanilla* ie no mods and no INI tweaking and no dll. Prior to the patch I used to dll for better performance
and had maybe a handful of crashes in 30+ hours. So now I have trouble getting the game to run *and* more frequent crashing ingame.

Turn off updates for the game in Steam, then open the properties for FalloutNV.exe and check the "previous versions" tab to see if you have a restore point version stored.

If you do you can roll back to the previous version and wait for the next patch.
