Reason this game is poorly made?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:29 am

I bought this game last Saturday, and have been disappointed with the game play I've experienced. There are so many glitches and so much lagg in this game it just completely ruins the game. I can't go to certain areas without 'losing' my companions, I can't even finish a quest because I gave the platinum chip to Mr. House and he tells me to open the bunker, which I need the platinum chip to do and he wont give it to me. You had 2 years to make this game, and it was a complete blowout. Fallout 3 was a great game, but this is just disappointing.

Thanks for the spoilers. Here I am doing so good to avoid these things, and you just ruined it for me. Next time warn us, before you ever post anything.

You are worse now than Obsidian, because you just took my fun out of the game. I can't even read any further because I might get more spoilers. Please warn next time.

The game was not poorly made. The bug testers just had barely any time to bug test because of the short amount of time between the game being finished and the shipping date so it could be released by Bethesda's pre-assigned release date.

Combine that with various other reasons (being a huge open world game, Gamebryo engine being a piece of crap, etc) and you have yourself a very buggy game.

Though I really have yet to experience the buggy-ness that most users seem to be reporting. Then again, most of the users who were reporting bugs at first were being very OVERLY DRAMATIC about it.

I don't know if this is typical but my game played fairly well for the first thirty hours or so, and then started crashing like crazy.

I don't know why they had to try and make the game so damned big. In a game like this, database conflicts don't just add up - they multiply.

They could have offered the same amount of content as two "expansions" instead of trying to market it as a kinda-sorta-sequel-or-something.

Good that devs don't listen to people like you really.... Lets all make small, crap piece of [censored] games like Arcania for the same price like any decent game. Bugs could be fixed, but lack of content and things to do, can't be added by patches.

Get yourself the newest nvidia driver and maybe d9d3dll makes the game experience a lot better.

See, to me it's more the opposite.
New Vegas adds content and style that I sorely missed in Fallout 3.

The game is buggy, it crashes and companions have pathing problems, no argument. Then again, the same problems were in Oblivion and Fallout 3. What do all games have in common? The underlying game engine.
Here's to hoping Bethesda will make a very careful consideration what to use for the open world games in their catalogue and crack down these issues. And maybe add some ladders to the next game. Just saying...

First off I'm totally with you dude. I don't want excuses about the engine or their time frame. This game was crap PERIOD. I'm extremely disappointed and I think Fallout 3 exceeded this game by far. I honestly don't like Obsidian, they have a bad reputation for the games they make and the series they ruin. Bethesda, let Obsidian no where near Fallout 4! Also for you kids whining about spoilers, this side forum says in it's title SPOILERS! Seriously don't cry about it when it already warns you.

why the [censored] does everyone say fallout 3 was loads better and less buggy when it has exactly the same amount of lag and glitches that fallout new vegas has.
i mean i loved fallout 3 so much but fallout nv is 10x better it has more dialogue ,multiple endings, better combat and loads more content. now my fallout 3 save file is 15mb and i can only go 5 steps before its freezes. on fallout nv ive had one major main quest bug that meant i had to load an earlier save, but guess what [censored] happens it is still a great game and ive been on it [censored]loads since it came out and have no regrets about buying it, so go complain somewhere else

I've said this before, everyone has their own opinion. You think it's the best game ever? Good for you. You think it's 10x better than Fallout 3? That's great. Why am I on the New Vegas forum? Because I "-when I hate the game so much."? Well I don't recall ever typing that I "hated the game". I specifically said the game was crap. A game can be crap and people can still like it. I'm on these forums to look for something to do in the game since I've completed the majority of it except for a couple of Cesar's quests. Does that give you your answer bud? And people such as myself? I'm going to assume your previous thread was on how people are talking negatively about NV. Well I apologize sincerely to you for not having pathetically low standards for a game. I know a good game when I see one and this isn't it. Wasn't worth the $60. But do I still enjoy things from it? Of course! I'm a die hard Fallout fan boy.

I don't recall saying I think this is the best game ever, nor did I say it is 10x better than Fallout 3. I can't see how you can like something which in your books is crap? If this game has pathetically low standards then how can you be enjoying it? If this isn't a good game in your opinion why have you spent at least 20 hours of your life completing it, but yet your looking on this forum for even more to do? You contradicted yourself several times there, bud. Instead of getting uptight why don't you play this crap, pathetic game and waste yet more time of your very busy schedule instead of making a fool of yourself on here...

the complexity of a game is not linear growth as you give the player more choices. It is exponential.

The more relationship between player choices the game has, more complex the programming and more chance for error.

NV has infinitely more interaction between choices then F3. There are so many minor details in the game it is mind boggling. I remember once I was walking around and the NPC mentioned something that blew me away. I don't remember what exactly, but I was very impressed with the attention to detail the game have because of it. It might be Cass commenting on something, or it might be veronica. It was a really minor comment that add nothing to the quest at hand, but it shows that the characters are really flushed out - with offhand comments that befit their personality and reacts to nearly every little thing the player does.

On a side note :) Take Psycho (or was it Jet) and talk to Cass.

I see the point your trying to make but like I've said, I'm a die hard Fallout fan boy. Whether it's complete crap or something amazing I'm going to play all of it. I've been a Fallout fan for a long time but I'm still staying loyal to the series. It is crap, and I said you have pathetically low standards if your loving the game to death or you just haven't played any of the other Fallouts. I honestly don't know what else to say? You like it and I dislike it.

That's pathetic. Ever heard of something called opinion? Way to hold your nose high in the air.

I think the game is amazing. Guess what? I've played Fallout 1, 2, 3 and tactics. When a game is crap (in my opinion) I don't play it.

That's not trolling. That's arguing. It's also a fault of mine. I can't stand people who put down others purely because their opinions don't match.

You are?! /Runs off to help

On topic: I think the game was okay, its buggy, but so is everything, Fallout 3 was way worse in that department. I couldn't look at the Operation Anchorage pod thing without the game crashing...strange and game breaking. Bethesda's specialty.

At least Obsidian's game doesn't have Bugs like that.

Personally I think some, and possibly a lot of the "lag" issues and such could be solved by simply upgrading your graphics card and making sure you have the latest drivers. But hey, I think a lot of people just like to [censored] and say it's the developers' fault, not their own for having an outdated P.O.S. graphics card. Not saying this is the OP's fault, I don't know for sure. But it seems to me that some of the whining is misdirected and some should be pointing the fingers at themselves...

Don't hate on the op. This game has been released in beta alot of people, a very large amount, have been unable to play this game despite high end hardware. I myself am one of those, however have been able to utilize a player made workaround that helped 'me. To the person that said something about them not being able to test it properly because of release dates, uh, man really? The op posted in the wrong forum, but check out the tech issues forum and you'll see alot of us are feeling his pain.

Ok in a very polite way I have to let you know that this is wrong brosef. Peruse(did I spell that right) the issues forum and you will understand that this game is causing severe issues with high modern graphics cards. Normally you'd be right but not with this game.

I'm glad I have not yet heard that New Vegas is worse than BoS, I don't know what I would do if someone said that.

In terms of bugs, I think they're both equal, people over react over bugs even on small ones in New Vegas, fallout 3 crashed way more than New Vegas due to my experience. I think if people go into the game believing that they will enjoy it then they will enjoy it. If people go in to expect a bug free game then they won't enjoy the game, simple as that. The engine is extremely buggy and prone to freezes so I'm not surprised that people are giving the game a hard time.

I came into the game, knowing that I would experience bugs and freezes and not to over react if the game would freeze for a few seconds. I play the game to enjoy myself not to nitpick at every single thing.

In terms of preference, I though FNV was better from dialogue, characters and story that and Fisto made my day. I did not like FO3s story because I thought it was a watered down version of FO2 and there were one or two characters I liked throughout the whole game, I will not argue that Fallout 3 had more to do in terms of exploration but also people have got to remember that the game just came out last week, we could get fixes and more places to see and do in DLC and patches.

dropped catalyst 10-9 drivers and installed 10.10...and all lag and stutters disappeared.

10.9 didnt stay ingame for glitching, also glitched my 3d software and paint packs.

use a driver sweeper to flush out your drivers first.

this one thing turned the game around 180 degrees, still get the bugs n crashing ever 30 hours, but hey,its a complex game.
