PC patch

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:41 pm

Hello everyone.

I cant find any Information about a Patch for the PC Version of Brink. I have a ATI HD4890 and i tryed 4 drivers. The only Catalyst it work with is 11.3. But the performance is still a bad joke. Also there are countless problems with sound and other things. I am very dissapointed about Bethesda do launch Brink this unfinished.

When will there be a Patch to finish this Game?

Regards
Shinizm

There's a known issue with some ATI cards, they're working on it. No timeframe as yet, though, unfortunately. Sorry I don't have better news for you.

Yes, I also have the common problem with sound when online. A lot of times I can't hear the character's pvssyr and the leader's acknowledgments. Once, I played the whole match completely deaf.

It seems under certain circumstances a few of the maps will glitch / de-sync from the various players, creating obvious bugs such as:

-AI being outside of the map (you know what I'm talking about when you've seen bullets fly out of the roof and kill you, or the player next to you
-The sound will glitch in several maps, and I do believe this is linked to invisible AI bug

These bugs are only present in Multiplayer, as I've played the single player campaign multiple times, and have not seen any of the above replicated. Believe me, if the common player is aware of these bugs, the Dev team is surely aware of the problems and has been prior to release. Not to mention, it's hard to fathom the difficulty of repairing such issues. I have literally stared at a few hundred lines of code, (this game has thousands upon thousands of lines) attempting to find a nasty little bug, not allowing textures to load correctly, so yes, it took me hours for a few hundred lines.. imagine digging through a couple thousand lines of net code to find what is causing such issues.

I am sure they are beating their heads on the walls::: "Why oh why does it work flawlessly in single player, but not in multiplayer!" Anyhow, this is old news, I'm highly confident by now they have found the culprit, and have repaired it. However, as with any big game house, they are not going to release a patch to fix only one facet of a game, they are going to revamp, and optimize a lot more than just the few bugs seen in multiplayer. So yes, it will take time, but I promise within a month or two you'll have your patch.

Now get back to feeding that brink addiction!

Ed: Keep in mind, these game developers work under the whip of the Publisher. The Developer, if they had the choice, would never--I mean ever* release a game prior to it being 100% bug free (although that could take a very long time- Perhaps a year longer?) anyhow::: Do not blame the developer for a unfinished game--> Blame the evil publisher Cretans!

lol this game is still wildly broken. all they did was fix an embarrassing server browser lag and called it a weekend. and made buttons actually work on the advance graphic menu. Oh yeah real nice improvements there.

With new maps and new player content coming sometime in June in the form of a DLC pack, I think that we can expect an array of fixes to be released in that patch; possibly including the map fix for the Refuel map. Though we may well see one more hotfix released before said DLC is released.

As a temp fix head over to the steam forums. RayC or something like that has a link for a Brink cvar optimizer and it works wonderfully. This is just until they get the ATI issues resolved but I am playing the game great now and using a 4850

They already have our money, everything there after should be taken as a courtesy as that it was it is.

If you didnt research the game before purchasing to make sure it was going to work on your hardware, boo hoo, svcks to be an early adopter. Thats what you get when you jump in without checking the water first.

They are working on it. What do you want them to do? Deliver a solution personally to your door?

I understand you're upset but there's a workaround for now and I'm sure they're doing their damnest to get a patch ready as quickly as possible. You do not want them to rush a patch that fixes one thing and breaks five other things. Testing takes time.

It svck. I'm sorry. But for now the workaround is all you have. Either that or forget about it for a week and come back and check what the status is then.

Maybe next time you should wait a month before buying a PC game.
Do you know how many different hardware configurations are out there? How do you expect them to thouroughly test all of them? They can do the best that they can and then they can patch.
No game is without bugs on release day, especially on PC. And it's been out for what. 1 week now? And they've already patched some minor issues AND there's a workaround for your issue until they patch it again!

This is called Early Adoption. You are obviously not up for the stresses of it. You need to become a Late Adopter. You'll probably live a more stress free life.

I don't agree.

I buy games every month and this is not normal or usual.
A game can come with some minor bugs but Brink is totally unfinished and untested.

I paid for a working game and I can't even play it because it crashes all the time (using Nvidia GTX460SE).

It's their problem now to fix it and ASAP. I'd appreciate some news or info on what are they doing so we can play the game.

I can't comment on what you find normal compared to what I find normal. Generally new PC games have bugs. It svcks being in the minority when a game crashes all the time for you but believe me you are in the minority when it comes to PC players of Brink.

You are 100% about it being their problem to fix it ASAP and I'm betting they're doing just that.
The game has been out 1 week. That's all. That's hardly much time at all.
A little patience goes a long way.

BTW: have you tried the latest nvidia drivers?

I used a Brink config maker or whatever, and by enabling the value that lets the game know you have a multicore processor, my frame rate went from 20ish to around 60. So some tweaking can definitely help
