Updated drivers for EAH5970

I'm getting about 1:20 minutes of play before my computer freezes when playing FNV

Is anyone else having this problem?

I only updated them because gamesas send me an e-mail to update my Geforce drivers, despite the fact I'm using ASUS equipment.

Simple, use the Device Manager to roll back the drivers to what was working for you before on your ATI card.

In the future, unless you need a driver update because it specifically addresses a game or game issue that you are having, then there is no need to update them. I am still using my ATI drivers from over a year ago and have not updated them. The game does not crash for me, well it has twice, but that was related to something else, not drivers.

Well ASUS doesn't do drivers for either their ATI/AMD graphics cards or their nVidia graphics cards.

I think they meant to tell you to update to the latest ATI catalyst drivers but mistakenly said nVidia- that card is an ATI card and not an nVidia card. Also, Asus does list some drivers on their site for products they sell; in the case of my asus parts though these drivers are woefully out of date.

Prior to catalyst 10.4 there were imcompatabilities with ATI drivers with the asus specific software. That was fixed in 10.4 so the 10.11 version out currently should work.

Had you downloaded the ATI drivers or the nVidia ones?

Also there have been reports of some issues with installing the ATI released catalyst drivers for cards from Asus using their pro overclocking software. This was supposedly fixed also in 10.4 though but when it does occur the solution has been to uninstall the graphics drivers from device manager, reboot, and reinstall the drivers.

Wait, if the Nvidia drivers are in fact installed, then the OP will want to use something like Driver Sweeper (not Driver Sweeper which is something else) and clean out any Nvidia Drivers. Having both on a system can cause all kinds of instability, even though it should not.

Or, just use System Restore and go back to the day before you did this.

10.10e offers a few tweaks and options not yet found in the official 10.11 Catalyst.

When Catalyst 10.12 is released, the features of 10.10e will be present.

I use this combo with no issues in FalloutNV, or anything else for that matter.

I, too have a 5970 Crossfire setup.

Weill I now show the radeon 5900 series as my display adapter, and it lasts about another minute longer before freezing. The primary difference is that I get no 'hints' that a freeze is coming soon. :-(

Try to see if running it in windowed mode. It doesn't seem intuitive, but running in windowed mode solves the CTD issue for some people. It is not a solution by any means, but it should help indicate the problem. Hopefully since so many people have CTD issues fixed by running in windowed mode it will be something addressed by the patch.

ARe you setup in crossfire mode? YOu have an nforce chipset. Have you tried removing one card?

Is this your motherboard? EVGA?
