Which BoS Leader? : Fallout: New Vegas

When you work for the Brotherhood of Steel you have the option of leaving the current guy in charge or replacing him with another. I've heard that if you replace him then you won't get any support from them at the battle, is this true or do both men offer support?

Most factions require that you destroy the BoS, so they won't accept their help, like the Legion and House, but also the NCR I think. I went with the Yes Man, but I couldn't even ask them for help. I left the older elder in charge. In my 2 playthroughs i've blown them up anyway because I think they're a bunch of idiotic fanatics.

I would assume that ya have to keep McNamara as Elder to get the truce with NCR going (thats what I did). Never tried it with Hardin though.

Only McNamara is willing to work with the NCR.
