What are your skills ?

I am with you on this, they are the strongest enemy i have found, and every few levels i try to take them on & fail. Level 19 now & my guns skill is at 100 , i am about to try and take them on again with a sniper rfile. the Brush gun maybe better, but i havent found a scope for that.

I have my guns at 88 and the AMR is what I find does the trick.... You have to have armor piercing rounds tho.... And make sure you stay at range cause if you get cornered it's over

Depends on where the Deathclaws are. If they're inside a cave, tough luck. If they're out in the open, anti-materiel rifle from 300 yards away while sneaking should do the trick.

Wish I can help. I am level 18 with great armor and decent gun skills. I can only solo one at a time. If there are two, I am toast. There are videos on youtube with level 30 guys snipering deathclaws and still getting nailed...

BEST option peopl! hope this helps, ive just been killing a few in the quarry with an assault carbine armor peircing bullets, it works!

Armor peircing bullets do work against there DT so one clip should do it. Btw my guns 100 if that helps. So question answerd lol :goodjob:
Thanks for the replies, but is it me or do deathclaws on this game seem harder than fallout 3's?

Energy Weapons in Fo3 made short work of Deathclaws. Not so much anymore. And they are much harder in New Vegas.

Modded sniper rifle with AP ammo, they're not terribly challenging even with guns at 85.

Good followers help and by good I mean Boone.

1 on 1 is the best solution when dealing with any deathclaw. Headshots and Critical Hits help against them. The Sniper Rifle is your best friend

Lol... come across the alpha male yet? My advice is to snipe from a distance, and if it's that biggun', start running :P I also find Boone to be a lot of help, especially if you can give him a decent gun.

Deathclaws have a pretty high DT so in general any weapon doing a lot of damage per hit are good. And weapons with a low spread. So NO guns, shotguns, assault rifles or SMGs. I used the Sniper Rifle.

i one shotted each deathclaw in QJ with an anti-material rifle (sneak attacks). level 20 something with guns at 100.

without a sneak attack it takes 3 or 4 shots. AP rounds help

Yh took 10 rounds with a hunting rifle scoped to kill him, quite easy to be honest, because I got on top of one of them quarry lifts so he just kept running lol.

-Fully moded sniper rifle using JSP rounds are one-hit kills.

-If you rather not use such a brokenly overpowered weapon then "This Machine" using the same JSP rounds is playing abit more fair.

-If you happen to have the "Shotgun Surgeon" perk, Hunting shotgun FTW. Beanbag rounds to knock it out and slugs to kill it.

I just wandered into Dead Wind Cavern with companions Boone and ED-E at level 23. Gun skill 100, explosives 80, sneak 92. Boone is equipped with the sniper rifle, ED-E has the laser upgrade (if it matters), and I have the Anti-matter gun. Sneaking around, we have no problem killing Deathclaws as we come across them - even the deathclaw mother goes down with no problem. Then we come to the room with the Legendary Deathclaw and friends. I tried a few times but this guy hits you twice and you are dead. Then I threw down two bottle cap mines and 3 or 4 frag mines at the corner just before the room. I sneak in a little further and head shot the Legendary just to get him mad and then run out while my friends rush in. All deathclaws come to attack and everyone gets blown up but me. I didn't see any messages that "Boone is unconscious" but I did see a message that he lost an arm and leg. He heals miraculously. Every deathclaw that was in that room died when they rushed to attack my friends. Great loot on the BoS girl's corpse in the room.

I beat the legendary and the rest in that cave at lvl 14 with Oh Baby and combat armor. It really isn't hard with melee once you have the -DT and knockdown perks. Just can't try to fight more than 2 at a time.

I agree with the sniper rifle at a distance. When they come up close I use the thermic lance or chainsaw. No need to clickty-click...just hold down and aim. BUT it works if only there are 2 of them attacking. I had to use a whole bunch of stimpaks.
