Screen turns blue during customization

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 7:57 pm

My friend loads up Brink, presses Escape from the ark, and watched hte cutscene, the screen after is supposed to be where you pick your face type adn such, but the whole screen is just blue and he can't do anything, and has to alt tab out and close it.

Anyone else?

*Btw, his pc is pretty damn good, better than mine and I'm running it fine*

It booted up the first time fine, watched the intro movie and customized my character. I even played a few matches and customized again. I closed the program and started it again and when It came to the title page, the entire background was blue (still is). The HUD is all there however.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit using a Geforce GTX 470

I have the same problem. Does every game garbage Bethesda release run like crap?
Everything was fine the first time playing it but now I have the blue tint of death.

Same prob, my specs:
Win 7 x64 Home Premium
Nvidia 9800 GT Preformance Edition

My little bro has a similar comp but he's running x32 Win 7, and Brink works fine for him (actually hijacked it for a bit so I can play on launch night XD ).

My suspicion is that the glitch is coming from x64 Win 7 + Nvidia cards. (could just be x64 compatibility problems too).

Played for 4 hours last night. This morning, activated my Pre-Order DLC, and now everything is blue. Start a game, and it's blue. Customization screen, is blue. It's just, blue. Instead of graphics.

After I started the game for the 2nd time, it installed DirectX (Like I don't have that already. Seriously, games need to stop doing this.). And now everything is just BLUE.

"Try deleting your brinkconfig.cfg

We had a similar report about the DX update causing blueness and deleting brinkconfig.cfg fixed it in that case."

From Deano over at NeoGaf.

Try that out, should fix it. Can't try myself, I'm reinstalling right now.

I have the exact same issue. I CAN"T EVEN PLAY THE GAME!! Do companies not even beta test anymore? How are these things not caught before hand. All the excitement is gone now. I just want to load up a game and play. I would just prefer my money back instead of being sold a product that does not work.

I mean it is situations like this where I wish I had become a lawyer. For the cost of filing the suit I would waste my time simply sueing these idiots everytime they release a product and then the people that purchase it who meet all requirement can't even get the product to work. Why is that only acceptable in PC gaming world?

Ended up reinstalling the game through steam, which fixed it. Still not sure what the specific cause was.

Before reinstalling the game I tried all the usual quick fixes:
updated driver
clean installed direct x and c++
ran as admin
all compatibility modes back to xp
deleted config file (as suggested above).

None of that stuff worked so I finally resigned myself to having to wait till tomorrow for the huge downloading time till I could play on my computer. Then promptly went downstairs and booted my little brother off his computer so I could play it there

Try turning off motion blur (in brink's ingame video settings menu), that solved the blue screen issue for me.

For the people with nVidia cards, try the following:

From the Start Menu, select Control Panel
Select Uninstall a program.
Find the nVidia graphics driver in the list, select it, and click Uninstall.

Download the 270.61 WHQL drivers from here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
Let the driver download and install it.

Browse to: Steam\steamapps\common\brink\directx, Run DXSETUP.EXE and let it finish.

Try running Brink again.

Turn off motion blur under the options tab and video. This will eliminate the Blue screen you guys get on the main screen as well as in game.

Splash Damage has posted a work-around for this issue if disabling motion blur doesn't fix the problem.
http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25747

We have identified a low-frequency corruption during the render compile process that affects the post-processing in the game. We are investigating this further but in the meantime the following workaround should resolve the issue for most users:

Delete the generated folder from \...\Users\#user#\AppData\Local\splash damage\brink\base\.

You will need to apply the workaround again if the issue re-occurs.

If the issue re-occurs on every boot of the game when consistently applying the workaround, please report back in this thread and I'll have some further questions.
