PC Collectors Edition, no disc included in box.

Post » Tue Mar 08, 2011 11:57 pm

So I just got myself a copy of New Vegas at a midnight launch. The PC Collectors Edition. I got it home opened it up, all the extras were there, but no game disc. Anyone else buying one I would recommend opening it up in the store. Apparently something went wrong with packaging.

Was the CD Key with it? If so you can download the full game off of Steam, but it will take a few hours.

Can't you just use the CD key on steam to download it?

I called up the store I got it from and told them the issue. Luckily they believed me, and I got a replacement.

There was no steam key, the DVD case was MIA. The steam key is located in the DVD case right below the disc on a white sticker. Looked under the felt/plastic too, I was in total disbelief. Chips, cards, making of DVD and graphic novel where all there. Just no DVD case, that means no preoder DLC code either. All is well now though.

I'm now up and running with no trouble, just a few weird graphic glitches here and there. Nothing to complain about really.

I'm worried for the people that ordered it through the mail, or don't know their local retail staff well. You might not get a PC disc, and not be able to convince anyone it was missing. That would be hell. I have no idea how widespread this issue is. I'm the only one that I know so far that bought the PC CE at retail so my information is limited. But according to my calculations it's 100% lol

Calculations would be wrong, if it was replaced and the second copy had a game disc then your looking at 50%. Just thought I'd point that out.

Aren't all those cool extras enough? I mean c'mon! You want a game disk too? The sense of entitlement these days is beyond belief!

I know, right?!

It's like these kids think they can just... flash their moneypapercards around and... and... -get- stuff!

And then when they don't, they get all 'Raaaaagh! You ripped me off! Raaaagh!' and crap.

Then you have to tazer them. -_-;' Sigh.

That would be true. But instead of giving me a different CE box they just gave me a standard PC DVD box to slip inside my CE. So still 100% but at 0% for standard edition.

I bought the retail CE from Best Buy but I won't be picking it up until after work tonight. But I'll let you know if I have a disk.
