Can't access .ini

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 11:14 am

I'm trying to access my Fallout.ini file to implement a new font, and when I try to save the changes, it pops up a message saying that it can't save the file, make sure you have to correct file name.
Help? :brokencomputer:

Shouldn't be a problem with that one.

Standard things to check: Make sure you are logged in with an account that has write permission to that directory (probably the "Jeff" account); right-click the Fallout.ini and select Properties and make sure it isn't marked "read only"; make sure that no other program has the file open or is currently accessing that file when you try to save; make sure you are only trying to edit it in Notepad and not a program that could alter it from plain text.

Beep Beep Beep Beep....

Tweaks need to go in the Fallout_default.ini file found under the \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas directory in Fallout: New Vegas. This is because when the game is launched via Steam, it opens the launcher first, which overwrites your Fallout.ini file with the contents of the Fallout_default.ini file, along with your launcher settings. Make a backup of Fallout_default.ini, then edit it with a text editor.

They didn't fix that now? I thought that bug had been taken care of.

Yeah, the changes didn't save when I tried to play, however, I messed with the default.ini and I now have the font working.
