Are you enjoying New Vegas?

It's alright so far. I love hardcoe mode.

But this game is still not Fallout.. seriously.. i'm almost getting bored now, have to do lots of boring quest and still get nothing and the voice acting svck so bad made the game even more boring.

This is another Fallout 3, not Fallout. I think if they can't make a actual new fallout game, they should have just remake fallout 1-2.

Seriously, Fallout 1-2 never bored me this much even it's alot of text reading there, im not a fan of reading though but this game get me through it.

well im a fan of reading, i love enjoying the stories the team created, also the small details. notes, audio disk, posters, environment....

germany here, the austria version is already in store, and in shipping since yesterday. I'll have to wait untill 22. for the uk version.

This is the example -_-
This game is another Bethesda crap for me, greatly dissapointed :( for ppl who enjoy FO3 will love this game.

Spoiler
There's one quest about the guy saying his wife is trapped by a freaking geckoes and he need serious help but his voice doesnt sound like he need it that much, almost like he dont really care about his wife.

Image below showing that my character is a politely gentle man from the year 1920 sort of.

Seriously.. the writting team is the same team who works on Fallout 3? what is this boring crap?

It's funny, I played the quest you mention and by no means does it come across as something that is meant to make you go "OMGWOWAWESOME!" but it certainly doesn't scream "wow. lame," either. I'm pretty sure it was meant to be exactly what it is - a side quest that you can choose to take or choose to ignore.

That said, to be completely honest I don't know why you would purchase a game that you expect to disappoint you in the first place and then act surprised when you're disappointed. That's like looking at your index finger and saying to yourself "I get the feeling this would hurt if I poked myself in the eye," and then you poke yourself in the eye and act surprised with the results.

However, judging by your post, I have to ask - have you even played the game yet? Because citing an example of one of the quests is a lot different from actually playing the quest itself.

Anyway, great game (to me) so far. I didn't realize there was so much to do before even getting to The Strip. Five hours in and I'm not even to The Strip yet.

When I get to play, I'm definetly exploring around, waiting for The Strip to be some kind of 'big reveal', I'm incredibly excited.
How do all you guys feel about the voice acting? I've seen some videos, and I'd say it's greatly improved: listening to anyone except Ron Perlman was a chore, the voice acting was so horrible. Liam Neeson was alright, though...

My dad is giving me a ride to game-stop at 1 PM.

I get my driver's license in 3 days FML.

Yeah, that's kind of what I'm doing. I anticipate that when I finally get the the Strip, I'm going to spend A LOT of time roaming around while taking my time with the main questline just because I'm sure there is SO much to do there (or I would hope).

The voice acting isn't terrible, but then I never expect it to be great for something like this. If it's a game the relies incredibly heavily upon the cinematics and non-playable story segments, I expect top-notch voice acting, but for this kind of gameplay, I think it's just fine :-).

Small Spoiler.

Just came across a guy in distress who said his G/F was trapped by Geckos (none of which belonged to Geico) and after I dispatched them and found a body, he comes up to me telling me it was a ruse and busts out his stabbin knife.

Well, it's about that time I remembered I had pre-ordered so I should have a shotgun. Equipped it, and VATS'd his head into a fine red mist. Jacked his goods, left him naked and disgraced in the wastelands. Anyone else want to pull one over on me? Huh?! HUH!?!!?

(ps, am enjoying it so far)

It's like.. ive been playing since i got the game back from the release, gonna sleep soon. seriously still not yet find anything cool :S

I bought this game because I expected it to be good, maybe too much i think, i watched the interview and stuff they said they're gonna make it like good old fallout, not the gameplay wise but the feeling, like if you play the game you'll know its fallout.. not some post-apocalyptic fpg/rpg from bethesda. Have to say I'm such an idiot to trust Obsidian that much :(

I try to get to The Strip but most of the quest is like.. leads you to another walk a miles quest, that's alright but it consume so much time.
I don't really want to compare because it almost like totally different game, just the same name but i still have to man. I'm kinda like the game at the first 30 minutes and then tired of the same stuff i have to do over and over.

The very first minutes of fallout 2 when you mad at the stupid ant quest thing, in the end the game surprised you by giving you so much choice on how to deal with that tribal dude who doesnt want you to be the chosen one.

anyway, sorry that i sound like im b*tching(because im actually is) but i dont really like how fallout turned into. some of my friends who was fallout fans love the new fallout, the game is alright if you dont think its fallout and only play it for a little joy. and i just thought Obsidian is gonna bring the fallout feeling back to the game but i dont think they did.. its the same Fallout 3 stuff with just different developer.

You buy an RPG/FPS and expect missions to be quick?! Do you wanna know how to get to The Strip? Look for it! If you don't like FO3, then you buy FONV expecting it to be more to your liking, that's stupid. And, the game is different and slightly more like FO1/2. For example, traits are back. Super Mutants aren't like LoTR Orcs, but intelligent (Like in FO1/2). Marcus, the best mutant ever, is back.

Are you kidding me? The writing is great and every NPC's character shines through, even one's with brief conversations you meet at random become pretty fleshed out in their motivations. And the voice acting is incredible. Ten times better than FO3. Not once have a run into dull voices like you would find in FO3.

This is the example -_-

First off, one of the best damn RPG writers in the industry wrote New Vegas, not the Bethesda team from FO3, and it shows. Regarding your comment in the spoiler tags:

Spoiler
Second, there is a great reason the guy asking for help with his wife sounds the way he does: He doesn't have a wife. He is tricking you into killing geckos so he can collect treasure without having to deal with them, and you are his svcker.

Personal thoughts:
1) New Vegas is frigging HARD. I'm playing on Normal, with hardcoe Mode on, and I have been owned by enemies multiple times, and I am a vet at FO3 and use careful tactics. I actually swallow now as I sneak, hoping enemies won't see me. Threats are realistic now. I scream like a little girl when a (singular, one, uno) super mutant charges down on me. Even as I desperately shoot at an enemy, I often wonder, "Can I really afford to use this much ammo? I only have X amount left, and the rest of the enemies in this area are resistant to the rest of my other ammo types."

2)Crippled limbs mean something now. You are really slowed down by a crippled leg. A crippled arm causes your aim to dip and swerve at the worst times. A crippled torso causes you to stagger backwards with each hit you receive, unable to fire again until you have recovered your stance. A crippled head randomly makes the screen blur in and out, sounds become distorted, and occassionally the screen fills with white as you go temporarily blind. Couple that with needing Doctor's Bags or an actual doctor to heal those injuries on hardcoe Mode, and one of your chief concerns becomes avoiding traps and injuries in combat. (Which is hard to do!)

3)hardcoe Mode doesn't really make things much more difficult besides needing to use doctor's to heal crippled limbs. The depletion rate of the meters fills just right, and hasn't become a hassle once in the seven hours I've played so far. Though it looks like you'll never run the risk of dying of starvation or thirst without being extremely stupid and careless, it adds a nice flavor to the game, and makes a reward of a bottle of water meaningful in more ways than just roleplaying.

4)I still haven't reached New Vegas and I've been trying for the past 2 hours! My character is currently in full retreat mode with a crippled leg, torso, arm, and head, crying loud sloppy tears as she stumbles backwards towards her last safe haven, shooting her scarce "extra punch" ammo at a pack of viscous dogs chasing her. For those curious, I am 7th level (or about 1 level an hour so far), and those dogs surrounded and killed me while I was at full health in less than 3 seconds on a previous save.

I'm loving it!

Got the same thing, but it was a bit glitched for me. I assumed the body was is girlfriend, so I looted the place and went back down the find him. Then he told me about the loot I had already taken and he attacked me. Just reached Primm. Still, I'm having a lot of fun.

And that in the spoiler, Wow, That make sense, Thank you :D

/snip/

So, it's harder than FO3? Darn. I found Easy challenging in FO3, especially with large groups of muties or a Enclave.

So what I am looking for is;

Quests that are not dorky / idiotic (like some of the FO3 quests)
and
A huge world that will keep me busy for a long time

Tehcnically, I did not expect much to be different in New Vegas, but I am hoping for a good story line and the two items above.

Any comments along these lines?

Thanks!

This.

I'm on PS3 and I agree completely that this is far more difficult than FO3 was. I had an encounter with a super mutant and spent nearly all my Varmint Rifle ammo AND Cowboy Repeater ammo trying to kill the SOB while strategically ducking in and out of a nearby mineshaft.

It has the same great Fallout feel with a much more trying experience thus far. I think the difficulty being what it is so far will lend itself to a much more rewarding feeling when you complete the quests or defeat those enemies that are giving you troubles.

I've said it many times already, but I have no problem saying it again: This game has not disappointed me at all.
