Did I miss something?

This will no doubt be tough question to answer, but here I am in New Vegas. I've just spoken to most of the major players and it seems like the game is close to ending (Main Quest anyway). I even have the chip!

Now, I'm about level 15. I haven't seen a deathclaw, a super mutant, several of the weapon types, etc. Now I took as many quests as I could find, trying to push off the ending as much as possible. It's not like I RAN to New Vegas asap or anything, but I still feel like I missed something.

So I guess my questions are:

  • Am I as close to the end as I think?
  • Any advice on where to go for a bunch of good quests? I know that's a tough question without knowing where I have been, but...
  • How far can I go in these quests before my ending type is decided? In other words, if I do the first part of the major NCR quest line, will I automatically be forced to align with them til the end?

Basically it boils down to I am LOVING this game much more than the first and I want wanna leave the wasteland any time soon.

If you JUST got the chip, then no, you're not almost done. About half way through maybe.

Ok awesome thanks. Am I forced to pick one major quest line at this point or can I play a few of them at the same time?

If you want to put off the main quest, then just grab your gun(s), ammo, and go wander the Mojave. Find a companion and go kick some a$$ in the desert. You will be surprised with the amount of side quests you can find...

You should be able to do some of the plotline quests but they may have negative impacts on other factions.

There are soooooooooo many side quests it's ridiculous. There's about 8 Good / Neutral companions (and probably a couple evil ones too) and each companion has his own set of quests though you need to hang with some of them for a while till it's revealed. Talk to your companions, especially if you catch them doing something unusual or making wierd comments. Sometimes they will just interupt you and start a dialog.

PS. TAKE NOTES. Theres quite a few small quests that nebver end up on your Pip Boy. You don't need extensive notes, just little things like "Find Mr. Cuddles"
