New Vegas Patches

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 8:30 am

Hey folks,

I just wanted to know, when will the patches for Xbox 360 be released? I don't want to buy the game until the first few official patches are out, we all know just how glitchy it is right now :P. Is there a website, or someplace that tells us? Or will I just have to wait until someone here posts it?

Thanks in advance. :)

I don't think patches are so strictly scheduled that they can tell you in advance. That's the general rule for all software. Patches get done when they get done. Then they get distributed as soon as they can after that. Unless they intentionally hold it back to build up hype.

I doubt they'd hold it back to build hype, no one anticipates a patch. :P

Just wanted to know so I wouldn't have to go through all the annoying glitches people are talking about..

I believe patches are done, at least for the Xbox 360 (I have an Xbox, I don't play too many PC games so I don't know about those), as problems come up. If a serious problem, or a lot of small ones pop up, they'll make a patch to fix those. I think it's a first-come-first-served kind of thing. Bugs that you notice immediately will probably be fixed first.

As any other developer, they will wait some time for people to report bugs, they will then test these bugs, fix them and include them all in a patch. Don't expect it to be out next week or anything. My money's on next month at the earliest for the first major patch. There may be smaller patches fixing critical crashing issues before that (which is also easier to deploy now that they're using Steam)

Most games ive played get an update within the first week or so, just to iron out and fix all the minor bugs and tweaks that they couldnt get in on time before it had to be signed to be sent out on the shelves, or what not.

Considering the massive scope of the game and the fact that they will need to wait for the game to be released in Europe/UK and test bugs across three completely different platforms, I'm gonna take a guess and say that the first patch in any quantity will be in 3 weeks/a month's time.

Yeah, unless there's a critical game breaking bug, I doubt we'll see a patch for a few weeks.

Well I am on the 360, and it says version 1.0.0.2 or something like that, so this has been patched up to some extent.

Why not buy now? It's not like you will get it cheaper in a few months anyways. Get it now and play waht you can, at least get a feel for the game, and if it's unplayable as you say, then wait.
