Hold off on buying until patched?

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 11:58 am

Typically I'm in the lines and buying it right away but after reading the forums and seeing the huge amount of bugs, crashes, Steam issues, etc. I'm debating on holding off until patched. For everyone that currently has the game, what would you recommend to those that don't yet? (ie-Don't get the Steam version because of all the bugs, but get the store-bought)

I have a PC btw. Thanks!

Complaints of that nature are common on the release.
I would just buy it now if you really want it why wait ?

If I had known that saving was broken in the PC version, and that PC users were getting screwed over for DLC, I would have gotten it for my XBOX. Still woulda got it no matter what, though.

First off, Store bought version == Steam version with extra delay. Really. There is 0 difference. If you are 'lucky', the store bought version will even attempt to download itself fully from Steam anyway.

With that out of the way, hard to say. The overview thread seems to show that more than half of the people don't have major bugs, which may be a relief.

Im waiting for atleast a week before purchase. I don't think I would want to deal with a bunch of glitches right at the start..

My question is in the same vein but probably not worth another thread - is it really that buggy?

I might wait until the first patch to install it, I think. (Not positive, but definitely maybe.)

I think you'll find that opinions differ. Some people are more willing to put up with bugs, and the amount of bugs varies from person to person.

I have it for PC Steam purchase and DL, haven't had any save problems. I have, however, only played it about an Hour. F-king work.

I bought the game but I believe that all good things come to those who wait. So I"ll probably shelf it for a while until it is patched and the first decent mods start coming out.

Am I the only one who hasn't had any problems whatsoever with this game? My game hasn't locked up once, and while it stutters, it's not to the point on my end where the game becomes unplayable. Besides, I've been used to the stuttering since Oblivion, and that was MUCH worse.

Only thing I've noticed so far is the old "bodies stuck in the ground" glitch, but I thought it was funny to see a flailing dead gecko's body stuck in the ground right next to
Spoiler
the fridge where you get Indiana Jones's hat (Wild Wasteland)

And I expected to have problems out the ass with my version downloaded from Steam.
