I would get an error message almost every 10-15 minutes while playing Fallout New Vegas. I svcked it up for 30 hours of gameplay but then I couldn't take it anymore. I forget where I got this information exactly. I think it was one post in this somewhere in this forum, but simply deleting what I heard was an outdated video codec called l3codecx.ax fixed everything. It also fixed some stability issues I had in Windows XP and another game. If you get frequent crashes like me, an outdated video codec might be to blame. Good luck all.

that's a valid codec that comes with windows, and is needed for MPEG3, and many games, so unless somehow you got an old version, which i don't see how, you'll regret deleting it. you should have version 1, 6, 0, 52 if not, then Windows Media Player 11 updates that. also, that was part of a critical update from microsoft, the old codec could run malicious code from a specially crafted avi file, so microsoft updated the codec. don't you get at least the critical updates from microsoft??. if the game is crashing from version 1, 6, 0, 52 of the codec, that that is a severe bug that needs to be fixed!.
