You can greatly reduce the number of programs loaded in the background by uninstalling the programs that need the background process, or simply make it not start, when you startup the computer.

It is however simple to determine if it is a background program, by making a clean boot: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796

Your problem, however, is likely to be your codecs. Especially ffdshow, so uninstall this. You can also rule out other codec issues by doing a codec reset: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35868

You could also try to unmount the virtual drives you are using (or try to uninstall MagicISO).
