Ive been playing for a while now, encountered a lot of persuasion happenings, and even when my chances are 41/50

i cant seem to get ANY successes? can some one explain this to me

..its based on chance? just save before talking to anyone and keep reloading till you pass. itll work

Your speech has to be 50 in order to have a successful speech check.

thats just silly... if thats the case, why would they put the chat dialog at all... obsidian... wasting my time been working on this quest for a while...

Well, it means you can't cheat by reloading the game.

So you are made aware of the fact that the option is there and thus know to burn a skill magazine or dump some points into speech in order to make it. Otherwise how would you know when to burn your temporary speech buffs?

And yes, it's now based on skill thresholds as far as i can tell, that is, you're not seeing % chances next to the option but required skill range(i stand to be corrected on this point).

Yep it's a hard skill check, but if you really need to pass it just use a magazine.

I like the system and the best part is you can try again later on when your speech is higher, now granted that won't happen all the time quest rewards are a one time thing

anyone know what the highest speech challenge is?

Not always unfortunately. Some checks are in unique dialogue paths that can't be reinitiated. Just a heads up.

@above:I found you can get most general checks around 50, 65 for a few advanced checks, and 75-80 for the rarer hard checks. I never needed 100 until the very final encounter, but it doesn't do anything except give XP....which is useless at that point.
