Goodsprings & the Powder Gang...

Post » Thu Apr 07, 2011 9:09 pm

Question:

I'm starting a new playthrough, and I want to try to see things I didn't before. One of the first of these things is any Powder Gang quests at the NCRCF & trying to get the prisoner as Primm Sheriff.

Is the only way to get positive Powder Gang rep (so that I can do these things), to screw over Goodsprings? Because, honestly.... they're some of the few genuinely nice people in the game, and I'm having a hard time saying "Ok, thanks for healing me, getting me back on my feet, and giving me some equipment. I'm going to sell you out to the raiders, now!" :)

No. There's only one Powder Gang quest relating to the Goodsprings and you don't even need to do that one to do the rest of the Powder Gang missions. You can start the NCRCF missions from neutral.

Also, you can get the prisoner as Sheriff even if the Powder Gang hates you. He's not with them, he's just there.

#2 nailed it.

I fought the law is the only random one that may not work after Goodspring.

In my current playthrough I wanted to do some Powder Ganger quests AND side with Goodsprings, so I took the easy route to that goal by ignoring the Goodsprings quest until after I'd gained good rep with the PGs.

I still can't figure out:

The neutral resolution for goodsprings and the powder gangers.

Or

How to start the 2nd quest from the crippled powder ganger in Nipton (not the rescue quest, their is another quest, I only found it existed after killing him and reloading.)

The neutral resolution is to walk away and ignore it.

Ah, good. Thanks

Hmm. My first play, I walked into the prison Vilified by the PG, and wearing a PG outfit... and I'd swear he was hostile just like the rest of them. No matter, it's long past. :)

At the very beginning, just side with Goodsprings and get Trudy to help you (Speech or Sneak checks). You pick a spot and hide while the Goodsprings folk do all the killing. You get a Shunned rep with the Powder Gangers but that doesn't mean they will attack you on sight. You can still walk right into NCRCF (without disguise) and complete the Quests related to that location.

I usually steal Cobb's ammo before the fight starts. That way, he goes down easier when he charges in. Good times.

Yeah that's kinda what i figured. I was kinda expecting to find a way to make the crimson caravaner leave, through blackmail, intimidation, or convincing. I think you can murder him and get a quest failure, but you still take a hit with your NCR rep, if you care about that

That's brilliant enough to get a kudos from me. And I'm a self-obsessed narcissist.

Of course that means I'll take credit for the idea in future threads.
