What no poker?

Post » Tue Apr 12, 2011 8:45 am

So i hope i'm not the only one disappointed that there was no form of poker in any of the gambling dens...I was really looking forward to it. I guess I should have paid more attention to pregame discussion to look if it was even going to be put in it. Hope there is a DLC that puts it in...anyone else with me?

Well if you get technical poker is only worth it for the house when the table is pretty full, because the rake is so much higher. That is assuming it's at a casino with a dealer. So I could see them leaving it out because there is far less of a population and therefore less players.

But, in all likelihood I expect it to come along in a DLC. I would very much like to see poker myself.

Yeah svcks that there's no poker, but it svcks more that gambling seems like such a minor thing that it almost doesnt even matter... the only thing you get out of it is a few achievements that you can get within 10 minutes, and money ingame if you're good at it... but you can get money so much easier without gambling that its just meh... unless it becomes some big quest thing down the road, it seems like a kinda worthless thing... shame too, the gambling games are so fluent and great looking...

I imagine it would have been considerably harder to program the AI for playing poker into the game as opposed to the relatively simple blackjack AI and roulette random number generator. Video poker probably would be on the cards but gaving an AI that would acurately simulate 8 player poker for example would probably be more trouble than its worth as a mini game.

Yea I wouldn't mind the ability to play poker/texas hold'em, and I agree that it should have come with the territory if you are making a game about Vegas.

Blackjack, roulette, and caravan (once you find a deck of cards one by one) can get old.
