Not impressed with Archimedes II...

Post » Thu Apr 14, 2011 10:21 am

Thought I'd give Archimedes II a real live fire test when I did my first foray into the quarry infested with Deathclaws. After one-shotting several deathclaws with sneak attacks with my Jack In The Gauss, I whip out Euclid's C-Finder, track the mother deathclaw with her ducklings behind her, watch the pretty fireworks, and... she gets back up.

I check her health with console command "getav health", and it was about 580-ish. I reloaded and checked her health pre-Archimedes, and it was 750.

I then sneak headshot her with my gauss rifle, and it knocked her health down to 50-ish.

Suffice to say, I don't find Archimedes II very impressive...

If it didn't weigh 15 for some reason it would still be good, even with the damage it does.

But come on, why does a small pistol sized designator weigh 3 times as much as any other pistol?

Wait a minute, humans make a super weapon raining down from outer space and it still can't kill a deathclaw?? But a alien made pistol can??

Those aliens got weaponry skills yo

That makes no sense lol, what difficulty were you playing on? Even a regular sniper rifle can two shot most deathclaws no problem in sneak.

It doesnt kill Lily or Marcus either, shame you cant point it at the top of the lucky 38 and have it destroy the tower and kill you know who. Or if you are on the Dam for the NCR and you have to protect another you know who and then just beam the hell out of him I dont see how people would know it was you, It looks like the heavens are angry but people always blame you.

Well like Victoria said to the Elder in the BoS bunker "We were just defending glorified artillery." That's really all I've found it to be but I still love it. It's a fun weapon that they added, like in place of the MIRV or MIVR...I don't remember exactly what it's called. Sure it can't kill death claws in one hit but I still find it satisfying to rain down fire and death upon the wasteland. I remember once it glitched on me when I went to fire it and the tracking lasers appeared and would come together and then go away like it was about to fire but then reset and do the same thing. It would go away when I put the ranger finder away and after awhile i forgot about it. After I loaded a save from when I was in the Lucky 38 and walked out the door and the laser randomly fired right in front of me knocking me back into the door, hitting victor causing all the robots to attack me and knocking out Victoria and ED-E. Luckily when I loaded it again and walked out it didn't fire.

Well props to Gamebryo for having glitches that are just as entertaining, or annoying depending on your perspective, as the actual game. :celebration:
