What next?

Post » Mon Apr 25, 2011 5:30 am

I just recently beat the campaign with only 35 hours on my sniper character. Now I want to go over the campaign again in a different way, probably NCR or House, since I did Yes Man with my sniper. But I have two options, a energy weapons character or an unarmed character, of which I can't decide. I'd like to know maybe some pros and cons for each build, suggestions, and your opinion on which would be more fun/entertaining/effective. Or if you think there would be another build all together that would be better. Feel free to vote in the poll

Superspy!

That's my next run, anyway. Suave, silenced pistols, sneaking around. Doesn't use armor, sticks to suits. Unless he needs a disguise to infiltrate the enemy.

Nice idea. But do you fight, or just sneak around, steal, etc?

Energy Weapons.

Meltdown is hilarious.

Edit: Personally, third playthrough is going to be a cannibal survivalist. Melee, repair, survival, ect. Just wander around exploring, eatin' people, the usual.

Just ask yourself: What would Bond do?

Lol nice idea. & Fish, that would be a little too close to my sniper build. I WAS thinking about a shotty build. Ya know, high endurance, riot shotgun, power armor, that kinda thing.

yeah i ahve 30 hours into my sniper build
Sniper rifle ++
AMR (special occasions)
M1
Marks Carbine
Riot shotgun

but its hard to get away from the distance you get from snipers...so why not just close it up completely and melee and explosive/

Explosives in this game for me is an absolute turn off. 40mm/25mm grenades weigh so much it's almost unusable, having to return to base after one raid.
But yeah, sniper char consisted of: Marksman Rifle, Sniper++, and riot shotgun as well.

Play Explosives in normal, the ridiculous radius for self damage is enough to justify it......

Now only if I can found enough stealth boy on a new character to steal Mercy......

I think I'm going to do an unarmed character that carries a Thumper around with him (75% melee, 25% explosives). :P
Still open to suggestions though.

Energy Weapons are way more fun than sniping until you get Gauss which is the end of all other weapons, good or bad. Anti-materiel among energy, pretty much. Unarmed/Melee is a bit harder because you have to wrap your entire character around it, and since you need to take both to get best perks like Ninja, you won't be able to work explosives. So either energy + explosives which synergize well on flamers and plasma grenades or melee/unarmed but using mainly unarmed because it's superior.

Dude, well done. I'm playing an very balanced character right now but the superspy sounds way cooler. I got Boone and I suited in ranger armor, red berrets & sniper rifles. Its kind of boring after awhile unless you end up inside but the Riot shotgun makes short work of room clearing. The superspy would not only look REALLY COOL but finally it will give a chance to use the little guns.

Why stealth your way there when you can just shoot, C4, and mine your way there :P
I twittled with an explosive build a bit and i set up a very nice trap for the legendary deathclaw. Blew the guy sky high.

Because C4 still weights a ton in normal?

And I wanna have Mercy ASAP! 40mm FTW

If I were to do an unarmed/explosives build, I would do straight unarmed, not melee, with maybe explosives capped around 50-70 so I could use grenade rifles effectively, then use ED-E for storage for grenades and other heavy apparel.
Oh and I never found where the Luxe room was, I got the key by winning the casino out but couldn't find the room. X.X

Perks requiring high Melee include Super Slam, Unstoppable Force and Ninja. Good luck divorcing Melee from Unarmed. :-|

Super Slam? you have Ranger tackle.

Unstoppable Force? VATS attack pass 80% of blocks.

Ninja? Why be ninja when you can kill everything without crits?

I was thinking about going through as a trader. Wear nothing but the roving trader outfit and hat, collect damn near everthing, and sell it. Empty jet inhalers and empty syringes, make my own drugs, and sell em.
