After dismissing Lily recently, I've noticed that he now spawns with me when I use fast travel. I dismissed him to Lucky 38 and Jacobstown - but at each arrival after using fast travel he will appear next to me. Then he will immediately run off, and on the way start killing bugs etc. which will interrupt whatever I'm doing.

I've tried spawning him next to me and telling him to follow me again, but immediately after he will run off again. I followed him and eventually got him to go to Lucky 38 - but then seconds later I realise he has left and gone to run around near the Caravan Outpost.

Is there anyway to force remove him as a companion or get him to stay and stop running around?
