If you define "work as muddy-looking graphics with odd light and dark banding effects, and jerky animation, as "working" then maybe so, but the minimum is a real video card from a real 3D graphics company that cares about games and gamers. Intel isn't such a company at all.

* Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 256MB RAM
(NVIDIA 6800 "GS" or better/ ATI X1300XT or better)
{Added my note here, the X1600 Pro & up really, and
avoid both the Geforce 6800 SE, and the 6800 XT}

Intel Integrated Chipsets are not going to run this game out of the box....they're very underpowered and not meant for games. Plus, they're not even supported by the game. If this is a desktop PC (not a notebook/laptop), you may have upgrade options. I wouldn't bother with the game until you have an actual video card to play the game with.

Other than it not being supported, as the others said Intel graphics are not meant for games. Modern Intel chipsets are meant for low-cost and low-power desktop graphics (office apps) and some video codec acceleration. As a side effect, they can play some very old games but nothing modern and even if you do get them to play there are usually rendering artifacts not to mention poor and unplayable framerates do to the driver team not focusing on being compatible with games.

Every now and then when somebody asks this, you might get a response saying "the new intel chips aren't that bad, they can play crysis" which is misleading. They load the game at the absolute lowest resolution and settings with single digit framerates - hardly playable stuff
