After verifying thee integrity of the game cache.

I have tried numerous times to "reacquire one file not validated" (close to wording) the dialogue window says the file will be reacquired

But it has not been.
it was this way before and after the latest greatest update. at which time it still crashed soooo....
I did clean reinstall (uninstall, registry clean defrag, disc defrag etc) with added newest update download and still [u]one file is not validated
My game still crashes .Maybe not as much but it still does

Anybody know how to Reacquire this one missing file.

Ignore it. The file failing is "InstallScript.vdf" a 889 byte file.

Seems to be a leftover of the original steam install and just about everybody gets the same message about that one file failing verification. Deleting the file just causes Steam to recreate it next time the game is launched with no other ill-effects.
