Did I do something wrong?

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 6:57 am

So for those of you that helped me with tips to escape the Legion's fort after I beat Benny to death, thanks. But now I have a new issue. I finished The house Always Wins, 1. Now Step 2 is to take the chip back to the fort and stick it in that machine to open the doors. Only problem is, House never gave it back after step 1. It was hard just to get to that building in the fort since I'm vilified there. (Killed that Phoenix guy and took his gear to sneak in) but the machine says it needs a poker sized chip to be inserted to activate. (The platinum chip). So why don't I have it and how can I get it back?

You were supposed to have gotten it from Caesar. Benny fled to the Fort, right?

Yep. I got the chip from Caesar, beat Benny to death instead of doing his quest, then went back to House and handed over the chip. I looked up the guide and it says he;'s supposed to give it back (obviously) but I don't have it nor do I see it in my inventory.

Sounds like a glitch to me. As soon as you get the chip you are supposed to go to the facility and use the chip to get inside. Later you return to Mr. House in New Vegas and he takes it. That, at least, is how the quest line ran for me.

Maybe that was my problem. I took it right back to House first. He tells me to head back to the fort and everything but nothing happens. Even when I selcet the quest The House Always Wins, 2. Nothing pops up on my map. There's always a dotted line showing where to go.

Anyone else have any suggestions? I'd hate to have to start over after over 50 hours of gametime.

Why don't you just use this playthrough to get the independent ending instead of restarting? Do all the Wild Card quests and rule New Vegas yourself.

Just tried. I went and killed Mr. House and went to go tell Yes Man, but then once again, I need the platnium chip to upload him. So I can't do anything.
