Filling up bottles.

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 3:06 am

I've always wondered why we can't fill up empty bottles, whether they be water bottles, soda bottles, or whatever. It would especially benefit those who play in hardcoe mode. I'd love to be able to fill up 4-5 bottles from a purified source and then get on the move to wherever I'm going, rather that find/buy more.

I agree with you this should be possible they should make the bottles like add more weight when filled or something even the option of using rivers etc to fill them.

Yes, but the canteen has an endless supply of water (if I am not mistaken), which completely defeats the purpose of hardcoe mode.

That sounds poor if true? I pre-ordered just to get the canteen, just so I could fill it up on hardcoe mode, drink from it and nearly die when I'm trying to find a new source of water to top it up again when it runs empty. Pointless.

If the pre-order canteen never runs out, how come I get de--hydrated then? It says I take sips or drink but then it doesn't so I believe they do run out. Other wise how do you get de-hydrated with it then?

Does anyone know how this works for sure? I'm on a 360 so mods are not available for me. Does the canteen last forever or do we fill it up? Also, I do not have a pre-order code. But there must be some way to acquire one.

I thought the canteen just slowed down your rate of dehydration or something.

Ha. Nevermind, I do have the preorder code. Just never thought about it. Anyway, I'd really like to know for sure from someone who's using it in hardcoe mode. I don't want to download it until I know that 1) it CAN run out and 2) we have to refill it.

It can not run out and you do not need to fill it by default. I've gone into the scripts for the canteen - nothing causes it to run out, ever. It simply restores 25 dehydration and 15 health every 5 minutes of game time, with no checks to see if the canteen has run out or if you've drank water or anything recently. The only check is to see if the canteen is in the player's inventory.

If you're on PC I made a mod that fixes it so that water doesn't heal you and the canteen can, in fact, run out. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1123251-rel-slightly-more-hardcoe-hardcoe-mode/.

I'm on a 360. And I'll be passing on this. Completely defeats the purpose of hardcoe mode.

You "automatically" sip from the Vault 13 canteen every so often, but does more to slow down your thirst than it does to eliminate it.

Plus, eating and drinking certain items will raise your thirst, so your need for water, even with the canteen tends to increase more than the need for food and sleep.

I still have to drink from faucets and bodies of water (as long as the rads aren't too high) to bring my thirst to 0. I also carry a few bottles of dirty/purified water just in case.

Also bottles are used to craft certain food/drink items, unfortunately it's not as simple as making a bottle of water from a stream/spring/water source. Even if it was dirty water, it would have came in handy.

It'd be an awesome mod to allow a Dip/fill menu that adds water "ammo" to the Canteen, and queries the rad count of the area and records it, so that sips of the water add X amount of rads per sip.
(or none, if the area was not radioactive.)

Hmmm... this might be my project after I finish the other one.
